PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Otto Tallus (ranked 5564 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dan Hernan (ranked 3614 p4p, 0 weight class). Tallus comes into the arena with Poison Girl blaring out of the sound system. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tallus throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Hernan tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Tallus is in Hernan's guard.

Tallus has his foot on Hernan's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hernan works his way back into a safe position though.

Tallus is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Tallus working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hernan doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hernan manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Hernan got a little sloppy there for a moment and Tallus has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Hernan has managed to get both his arms back between Tallus's legs - danger averted.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
You can see the frustration on Tallus's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Tallus sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Hernan looks winded!

Tallus slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Tallus bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Hernan's guard.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Hernan shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Tallus but Tallus pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Tallus closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Tallus tries to pass the half guard into mount. Hernan knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Tallus has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Hernan is trying to escape the mount but Tallus keeps good control and instead manages to take Hernan's back.
Tallus is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.
This is a sustained period of stalling by Tallus.

Tallus seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Hernan for as long as he can get away with.
Tallus's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Otto Tallus overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Oooh a big shot gets through from Tallus. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Tallus has an Americana. Hernan didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Tallus is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Tallus hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
