PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dirk Diggler (ranked 4161 p4p, 504 weight class) and Boss Yonic (ranked 3763 p4p, 470 weight class). This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dirk Diggler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Boss Yonic!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diggler throws a shot from downtown. Yonic moves away and avoids it.
Yonic connects with a body shot.
Yonic swings for the body but Diggler moves out of range.
Yonic looks to throw the jab but Diggler is out of range.
Yonic lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Yonic takes a swing at Diggler's ribcage but misses.

and Yonic decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Diggler's guard.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Yonic working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

Yonic drops back, looking for a kneebar! Diggler looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Diggler looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Diggler!

We've been hearing good reports from Diggler's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Yonic looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Diggler with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Yonic is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Diggler is just riding it out for now. Yonic eventually gives up the hold.

And Yonic tries to counter it with a takedown but Diggler pushes his down on his head and steps out.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Yonic. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

He's trying desperately to grab hold of Yonic around the waist but Yonic pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Yonic is the winner by TKO! Yonic jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"
