Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between John Marston (ranked 3367 p4p, 357 weight class) and Rikkard Hanson (ranked 3256 p4p, 0 weight class). Marston comes to the cage accompanied by Linkin Park "Bleed It Out". Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Marston! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
18 - 16 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rikkard Hanson! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Wesley Smith and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hanson jabs Marston to the body, keeping him at a distance. Hanson closes the distance and clinches. Hanson has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Marston avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. A head punch on the inside from Marston fails to land. Marston misses with a body punch.
Marston can't find room to land a body shot as Hanson controls the action.
Marston swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Marston tries to break free but Hanson pushes him back against the cage. A left hand lands to the body for Marston.
Hanson tries to score a body lock takedown but Marston shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Hanson is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. John Marston has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rikkard Hanson. Marston keeps control of Hanson as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Marston gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Hanson.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hanson drops down looking for an ankle pick but Marston pulls his leg out and moves away.
Hanson takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Marston digs a good hook to Hanson's body.
Nice defenses there by Marston. A counter left hand to the body from Marston misses its target. Marston slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. John Marston is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. The fight moves into the clinch position. Hanson blocks an uppercut.
Hanson jumps guard and drags Marston to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Marston decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Marston throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Marston uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Hanson.
Hanson tries to move into range but Marston moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Hanson cracks Marston with an open hand slap. Hanson fails to land the takedown. Hanson shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Marston is trying to defend but Hanson finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Hanson trying to mount his opponent but Marston defends it. Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!

Hanson missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Marston is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Hanson scores with a couple of nice shots. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Hanson in particular looking to stall. Marston is pressing down on Hanson's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Marston wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hanson is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Hanson pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Marston is keeping the position for now. Hanson wants to control from the top but Marston keeps moving.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hanson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Hanson in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Hanson is pushing down on Marston's leg trying to pass to half guard. Marston is fighting to maintain full guard but Hanson has managed to sneak the leg through. Hanson not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Marston is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Hanson scores with a couple of nice shots. Hanson prevents Marston from standing back up.
Hanson is looking for a kimura here.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Hanson is taking a breather. Marston says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Hanson lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Hanson seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Hanson throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Marston is trying to escape back to his feet but Hanson uses the scramble to pass into side control.

Hanson is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Marston to escape.

A close round but Rikkard Hanson will probably get the nod. That's time! Marston's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Hanson slips under a jab from Marston. Hanson is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Marston closes the distance and clinches. Marston is pressed up against the cage. Hanson has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Marston down to the mat. Marston avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Marston stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Marston wants it to stay on the feet. Hanson lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Hanson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Marston tries to avoid it but Hanson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Marston to the ground. Marston escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Nice defenses there by Hanson. Hanson looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Hanson keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Marston throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Marston wants to stand but Hanson is controlling the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hanson controls from within his opponent's guard. Marston keeping full guard, as Hanson tries to pass. Hanson keeps trying to improve his position.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Hanson gets in close and instigates a clinch. Hanson can't get the takedown.
Hanson has been looking to improve his clinch game in recent weeks. Marston seems to have the measure of him in the clinch so far, so let's see if Hanson can turn it around.

Hanson wants to take the fight to the mat but Marston manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Hanson's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! A head punch blocked on the inside by Hanson. Marston tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Marston tries to work over Hanson's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Hanson tries for a takedown but Marston manages to get underhooks.

That's three minutes gone in the round. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Hanson. Marston connects with a crisp jab. A punch lands to the side of Marston 's head but he takes it in his stride. Marston throws a big shot that misses. Hanson shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Marston stuns Hanson with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Marston throws out a loose jab but Hanson uses good head movement to avoid it. Hanson feints the counter takedown. Marston throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Hanson defending well as Marston loads up on a big left hand. Hanson only half commits to the counter leg kick. Marston catches Hanson with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Hanson is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Marston's half guard. Marston has one foot on Hanson's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

Marston dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Marston takes a swing at Hanson's ribcage but misses. Hanson takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Hanson keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Marston tries to throw a body punch but Hanson avoids it by throwing Marston back against the cage. A quick uppercut on the inside from Marston. Hanson has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Marston after a bit of a struggle. Marston pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Marston ducks under a wild hook from Hanson. Marston is looking to wear down Hanson with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. Hanson drops his hands momentarily and Marston takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Marston rushes Hanson with punches - Hanson moves straight backwards instead of circling and gets clipped by the second strike... and the third... and the fourth! Oh, Hanson goes down! Marston follows up with more strikes and the ref steps in to end the bout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:36 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). John Marston! Our winner, John Marston, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
