Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Josh Gates (ranked 7202 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bingo Halili (ranked 25297 p4p, 0 weight class). Bingo Halili has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Josh Gates's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Josh Gates! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Bingo Halili! The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Aafke Stam and Daniel Blasius.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Halili misses with the combination.
Gates moves into range and clinches up with Halili. Halili taking a breather. Gates jumps guard.
Gates wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Halili manages to pass to side control. Gates wants to get back to full guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Halili trying to advance position but Gates counters by regaining guard. Gates is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Halili throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Halili swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Gates swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Gates closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Halili's guard. Halili wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Gates manages to pass to side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Gates wants to work for an arm triangle but Halili is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Gates closes the distance and pushes Halili back into the cage. Gates pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Halili lands with a nice body punch. A decent looking cross lands there for Halili. Halili gets tackled into the cage by Gates. Gates maintains the clinch. Gates tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Halili smiles and moves away.

Halili throws a combination that misses and Gates counters with a lovely shot to the body. Gates rushes Halili and presses him up against the cage. Gates keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Halili's efforts to push away. Gates is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Halili can't fight it off and eventually Gates manages to take the fight to the floor. Halili looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Gates gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Gates fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Halili, pushing him back against the cage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gates manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Halili trying to control but Gates is working from the bottom. Gates wants to stand but Halili is controlling the position. Gates bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Halili's guard. Gates lands a couple of digs. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Gates connects with a couple of short punches. Gates not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Gates is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Gates takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Gates has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Halili tries to get to full guard but Gates has control of the leg. Gates is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Gates working over Halili with some ground and pound. Halili looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Halili is trying to maintain a safe position but Gates gets an underhook and turns Halili into the cage. Gates is trying to pull guard but Halili has him pressed against the cage. Halili has had enough of the clinch but Gates keeps him there for the moment. Gates's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. A head kick misses from Halili. Halili tries to circle away but Gates has him pinned against the cage. Halili takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

and Gates cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. This has been an exciting period of action! Gates moves into the clinch. Gates pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Gates clinches up against the cage. Gates manages to break the clinch.

Gates gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. Halili tries to kick Gates off in order to stand up. Gates Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control. Gates moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gates is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Halili can do to turn this around? Gates tries for a kimura but Halili is defending well.

And that's the end of the fight! Josh Gates showed his dominance in that final round. Well Gates has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
