Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Les Yates (ranked 5654 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sergio Menezes (ranked 7979 p4p, 0 weight class). Sergio Menezes will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Yates has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Menezes has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

Menezes escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Sergio Menezes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Yates is defended easily by Menezes.

Menezes throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Yates was covering up waiting for the punch and Menezes finishes the takedown easily into guard.

and Menezes counters with a shoot takedown. Yates fights it but they end up in guard.
Menezes must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Menezes wants to control from the top but Yates keeps moving.

Menezes is sitting in close to Yates's body. Yates has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Menezes is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Menezes is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Yates.
