Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Blue Cup (ranked 2451 p4p, 269 weight class) and Cian Cartwright (ranked 2780 p4p, 297 weight class). Cartwright comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Engulfed by Darkness kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Blue Cup! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
13 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Cian Cartwright! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Tiny Johnson and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cup tries to sprawl but Cartwright drives through with a takedown into half guard. Cup manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Cartwright keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage. Cup turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Cup is looking to take a break and control but Cartwright is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Cartwright wants to get back to his feet. Cartwright tries to buck Cup off but Cup is having none of it. Cartwright regains half guard. Cartwright wants to control but Cup is keeping busy and won't allow it. Cartwright punching from the bottom.
Cup lands with a punch from half guard. Cartwright looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Cartwright felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. Cup thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Cartwright's head. Cup wants to work for an arm triangle but Cartwright is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cup prevents Cartwright from standing back up.
Cup definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Cup trying to pass the guard but Cartwright defending well. Cup wants to advance to full mount but Cartwright doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead. Cartwright trying to strike off his back.
Cartwright is looking for a triangle but Cup pushes his legs off easily.
Cartwright trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage. Cartwright is looking to sweep but instead, Cup has passed into half guard.
Cup is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Cartwright is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Blue Cup! A very excited looking Blue Cup made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
