PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Red Cup (ranked 5971 p4p, 483 weight class) and Anselmo Harris (ranked 4375 p4p, 401 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Red Cup!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Anselmo Harris!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Daniel Franklin and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cup has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Cup there as he acknowledges the shot.
Harris keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Cup.
Cup lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Cup shoots in for a takedown but Harris shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Cup misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Harris fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
A looping hook to the body misses from Cup. Harris does a little dance to reset his feet.
Harris with the counter takedown but Cup avoids it easily.
Harris has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Cup throws a right and a left that both miss.
A looping hook to the body misses from Cup. Harris does a little dance to reset his feet.
Harris tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Harris works the jab nicely.
A swing and a miss from Cup.
Cup throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Harris sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Harris tries to clinch but Cup is having none of it.
A punch lands to the side of Cup 's head but he takes it in his stride.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Harris throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Cup tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Harris is in Cup's guard.

Cup has his feet on Harris's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Harris lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Cup at a distance.
Cup shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Cup tries to keep at a distance but Harris has taken the fight into the clinch.
Cup looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Cup tries to pull guard but Harris holds him up against the cage and eventually Cup drops back down to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Red Cup. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Cup can't break the clinch.
Cup tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.

Harris breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Cup has managed to clinch.
Harris scores with a shoulder strike.
Cup blocks an uppercut.

Cup lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
Harris wants to stall.
Harris tries to work over Cup's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Harris breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Harris moves out of range as Cup strikes.

Harris misses with a hook. Cup ducked under it nicely.
Cup throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Harris lands with a good body shot.
A cross from Harris lands.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Cup takes one to the side of the head.
Cup takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Harris shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Harris showed some decent athleticism there.
Cup tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Harris manages to move to mount!
Harris lands with some strikes.
Cup regains half guard.
Harris throwing shots but Cup is blocking nicely.

Harris thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Cup's head.

Harris lands with a hook. Cup tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

Cup gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Harris to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Cup is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Anselmo Harris showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Well Harris has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
