PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brooks Morrow (ranked 25250 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack William (ranked 8516 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Brooks Morrow!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jack William!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Donatello Bradman and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
William scores with a three punch combo!
William throws a nice looking combination but Morrow bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
William throws a head kick that misses.

William clinches.

William escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Morrow gets tackled into the cage by William. William maintains the clinch.
William tries a body shot but Morrow blocks it.

Morrow pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
William tries to clinch
and Morrow counters with a left and a right that stings William.
William leaves Morrow with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Morrow tries to close the distance and clinch up but William swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Horrible takedown attempt by Morrow or perhaps it was just good defense by William, which made it look bad.
William tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
This has been an exciting period of action!
William fails to land with a series of punches.

William tries to clinch but Morrow is having none of it.
Jack William seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Morrow fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging William to the ground. Morrow is now in William's guard.

William has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Morrow is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

William is trying to maintain a safe position but Morrow gets an underhook and turns William into the cage.

William's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Morrow drives through with a takedown into William's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Morrow is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Morrow trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Morrow throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as William works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

William is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
William looks winded!

William looking to hit a scissor sweep but Morrow is one step ahead there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Morrow in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Morrow avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Morrow wants to control from the top but William keeps moving.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Morrow closes the distance and clinches up with William, looking for a takedown. Morrow pushes William against the cage but William circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brooks Morrow. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Morrow gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Morrow tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. William just stands there and leans against the cage.
William prevents a takedown attempt there.
A left hand lands to the body for William.

William breaks the clinch.
Morrow dives in and grabs William's left leg, looking for a takedown. William pushes down on Morrow's head and hops out.

William throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Morrow counters by clinching up.

Morrow jumps guard.
William postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Morrow is looking for a triangle but William pushes his legs off easily.

William stands up and waves to Morrow to follow him.

William looking to score a takedown here. Morrow is defending well but William drives through and ends up in Morrow's guard.
Morrow preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
William in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jack William dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Morrow shoots in but no luck this time.

William shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
William throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
William tries to pass to full mount but Morrow defends it.
Morrow is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Morrow moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

William throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
William is stalling in the full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
William is breathing heavily.
Morrow wants to hit a switch here but William passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Morrow there!
Poor strikes thrown by William there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Morrow keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Morrow regains half guard.
Well, if William is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Morrow wants to get back to full guard.
Morrow moves into full guard.
William wants to control from the top but Morrow keeps moving.

William thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Morrow escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. William gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Morrow looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but William puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Morrow moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
William scoring with some ground and pound.

Morrow is working an open guard so William takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

William rushes Morrow and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Morrow softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for William. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

William pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Morrow fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

William throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Morrow.
William slaps away a takedown attempt from Morrow, before circling back to the center of the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jack William showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

William jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Morrow manages to avoid the submission attempt.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
William wants to control but Morrow is keeping him busy.

William is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Morrow is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Morrow sneaks back into half guard.

Morrow is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but William pulls his head out easily.

Jack William comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well William has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
