Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Brandon Ortega (ranked 4305 p4p, 0 weight class) and Third Test (ranked 8461 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Brandon Ortega! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Third Test! The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Kenichi Hosakawa and Ren Mimura.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Test checks the leg kick nicely there.
Test with the counter takedown but Ortega avoids it easily. Test clinches with his opponent.
Test jumps guard but Ortega turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Ortega definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Test pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Test fails with a takedown attempt. Ortega ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Test moves away. Test shoots in for a takedown but Ortega shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Brandon Ortega has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Third Test. Test takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Test shoots in but no luck this time. Ortega instigates a clinch. Ortega tries to stall but Test uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A short uppercut from Test. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Test is trying to pull guard but Ortega has him pressed against the cage. Test has Ortega pressed against the cage.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Ortega uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Test has time to react. Ortega doesn't manage to clinch there - Test circles away.
Ortega throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Test leaves Ortega with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. The crowd cheers as Ortega lands an impressive looking overhand right. Test doesn't seem phased though. Ortega getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Ortega scores with a sloppy right hand. Test should have avoided that one. Ortega slaps away a takedown attempt from Test, before circling back to the center of the mat. Ortega lands the left hand. Ortega avoids the body shot from Test.
Ortega is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ortega dips to his left and cracks Test with an uppercut! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Ortega tests Test's chin there with a solid looking shot. Ortega misses with a wild combination.
Test fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Ortega avoids it really well and circles away. Test is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Ortega. Test's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Ortega connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Test scrambles back to his feet.

Brandon Ortega dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Ortega scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Test throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done! Test doesn't succeed with the takedown and Ortega counters with a stiff right hand. Ortega tries to bum rush Test with a series of wild strikes but Test uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Ortega, as that shot connected.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Ortega misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Ortega keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Ortega listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. A momentary lapse in concentration from Test enables Ortega to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Test manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Ortega postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Ortega throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Test utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Test keeping moving, preventing Ortega from controlling successfully.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ortega throwing strikes but missing. Ortega thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Test really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ortega. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Ortega in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Ortega postures up in Test's guard and throws a big left but Test blocks it. Test looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Ortega has picked Test up and slammed him! Test can't keep hold of the triangle and Ortega manages to pass to side control! Ortega postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Ortega has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Test dodges the ground and pound from Ortega. The referee tells the fighters to keep busy. Ortega is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Test can do to turn this around? Ortega tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Ortega wants to lay and pray for a moment but Test keeps working.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here. Ortega is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Test has escaped the position, nice work there. Test tries to bench press Ortega off him but Ortega keeps the position. Ortega has knee on belly and moves into mount. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Test can do anything to dispel that myth. Ortega misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Test is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Ortega is controlling him. Test is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Ortega with a flurry of punches that miss. Ortega trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Ortega drops back looking for a leg! Test is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Test manages to kick Ortega off! Ortega jumps back into Test's guard. Ortega throws a big right hand that misses. Ortega throws a big elbow that misses. Third Test has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Test throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
And that's the end of the fight! Brandon Ortega showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Ortega, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
