Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Hunter Villarreal! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Daniel Weaton! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Weaton lands with a cross. Villarreal throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Weaton was covering up waiting for the punch and Villarreal finishes the takedown easily into guard. Villarreal keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Weaton's head. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Villarreal drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Villarreal jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Villarreal loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Villarreal lands a couple of decent looking shots. Weaton is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Villarreal keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Weaton's head. Weaton looking for a sweep. Not yet Weaton, not yet. Villarreal controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
That's one minute gone in the round. Villarreal thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Weaton has momentary wrist control but Villarreal slips an elbow through the middle. Villarreal is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Villarreal drops back looking for a leg! Weaton is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Weaton manages to kick Villarreal off! Villarreal jumps back into Weaton's guard. Weaton had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Villarreal defends it easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Villarreal working some strikes from top position. Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Weaton working for submissions but it's allowed Villarreal to get to half guard.
Weaton looks winded! Villarreal is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Villarreal is looking for a kimura but Weaton is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Villarreal to get the leverage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Villarreal working over Weaton with some ground and pound. Weaton looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Villarreal takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Villarreal is working for a submission of some sort.
Villarreal is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Hunter Villarreal dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Weaton dives in and scores a takedown into Villarreal's guard. Villarreal kicks Weaton off and gets to his feet. Villarreal walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Villarreal slips under a jab. A right-left combo lands from Weaton. This has been an exciting period of action! Villarreal dodges the punch combination from Weaton.
Villarreal throws a low kick but Weaton moves out of range easily. Weaton is looking for the big counter here. Weaton throws a series of punches but Villarreal avoids them all with ease. Hunter Villarreal is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
That's one minute gone in the round. Weaton throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Villarreal counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Weaton is breathing heavily. Villarreal is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Weaton sees it coming and defends easily. Villarreal content to control rather than advance. Weaton trying to get back to full guard but Villarreal takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount! Villarreal will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. The referee warns Weaton that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Villarreal is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Weaton has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Villarreal really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Villarreal controlling his opponent. Villarreal lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Weaton is rocked! Villarreal controlling from mount. Weaton is still in real trouble! Can Villarreal finish him? This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Weaton has given up his back here.
Weaton seems to have recovered his senses. Weaton is trying to break free.
Villarreal punches Weaton on the ear. Villarreal is looking for the choke from the back position but Weaton is controlling his hands well. Villarreal lands a couple of good shots to his opponent's body and a final shot to the head. Good little attack there by Villarreal.
Villarreal has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Weaton! Can he survive? No! He's out! Villarreal gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Hunter Villarreal!
