PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rustam Shakhbulatov (ranked 3003 p4p, 331 weight class) and Demetrius Tektas (ranked 2109 p4p, 253 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Shakhbulatov might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Sabina Saidova - Dagestan. Tektas is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Alexander The Great. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

With a record of 10 - 4 - 2, fighting out of Amsterdam, Demetrius Tektas!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Arvi Lind and Tarja Halkonen.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tektas with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Shakhbulatov to score with a decent uppercut.

Shakhbulatov shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Tektas sprawls well. Tektas wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Shakhbulatov gets slowly back to his feet.

Shakhbulatov fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Tektas manages to avoid it.

Tektas's coach down at Training Center was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Tektas's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Shakhbulatov shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Tektas as he avoids it easily.

Rustam Shakhbulatov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Tektas throws a leg kick which misses Shakhbulatov's front leg but catches the back leg as Shakhbulatov tries to avoid it.
The fighters circle momentarily. Shakhbulatov darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Tektas drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Shakhbulatov defends it well.

Shakhbulatov is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Tektas is just riding it out for now. Shakhbulatov eventually gives up the hold.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Tektas is looking for a sweep. Shakhbulatov is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Tektas wants to control but Shakhbulatov is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Shakhbulatov perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Tektas will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
