Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Liam James (ranked 2404 p4p, 338 weight class) and Bon Dones (ranked 2047 p4p, 299 weight class). James comes to the cage accompanied by Come To Daddy by Aphex Twin. Liam James could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Bon Dones's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Liam James! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bon Dones! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dones has James up against the cage in a clinch.
Dones manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Dones seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. James wants to stand but Dones has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Dones is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and James defends well. Dones is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. James tries to stand but Dones is controlling from the bottom. James decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Dones, up you get! We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Some wild striking there from James.
Dones throws a lazy body kick and James counters with a stiff right hand. Dones shoots in for a double leg but James sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. James misses with a looping left.
That's one minute gone in the round. James throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Dones holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Dones misses with a hook from the clinch. James gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Dones.
Dones tried to land a shot to the body but connects with James's elbow. James has had enough of the clinch but Dones keeps him there for the moment. James is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Dones tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and James avoids it. James tries to break the clinch but Dones is controlling the position. Dones has picked James up - he's going for a ride! Dones dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. Dones prevents James from standing back up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. James has one foot on Dones's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet. James lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. James seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym. Liam James is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Dones dodges the punch combination from James.
James cracks Dones with a right hand to the side of the head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Dones on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Dones tries to close the distance and clinch up but James swats him away and circles back towards the center. James thows a left - swing and a miss! Dones changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. James scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Dones takes a shot right to the bread basket. A jab from James misses. A telegraphed right hand from James misses the target. James pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Dones rushes James and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. A head punch blocked on the inside by James. Dones lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Dones slips a nice elbow through James's hands, connecting with James's forehead. James wants to get back to his feet. Dones not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Dones winds up and cracks James with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Dones is nestled in close to James, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Dones connects with a nice short shot to James's temple.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dones working the head and body with strikes. Dones tries to pass to full mount but James defends it. James is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Dones scores with a couple of nice shots. James keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Dones lands strikes from half guard. James is trying to stand up here but Dones is controlling him well. Dones trying to control from half guard but James is working away. James wants to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. James kicks Dones off and gets back to his feet. Dones fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but James avoids it really well and circles away. Liam James has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bon Dones. A big right from James misses. Dones with the counter takedown but James avoids it easily. James sizes up Dones with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Dones fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but James avoids it really well and circles away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. James lands a head shot.
It looks like Bon Dones has been cut. Dones is sent reeling backwards by a solid uppercut. He barely regains his balance and James moves in for the kill throwing a continuous barrage of punches that force the ref to step in.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Liam James! An out of breath Liam James thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
