Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Shannon White (ranked 1846 p4p, 217 weight class) and Ernest Graves (ranked 2867 p4p, 318 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shannon White! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ernest Graves! The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! White fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Graves manages to avoid it. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! White looks for a takedown but Graves sprawls well. White shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than White was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Graves is looking to regain half guard here but White keeps moving and retains side control. Graves is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on White's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. White trying to mount his opponent but Graves defends it. White is keen to just control but Graves is a slippery customer. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. White is looking for a kimura but Graves is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for White to get the leverage. Graves looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. White is just content to waste time from the top position. Graves takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard. Graves looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

That's one minute gone in the round. White advances to half guard. White looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. White uses his free foot to push down on Graves's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Graves. White controlling from the full mount. Graves is squirming around, avoiding White's attempts to control the action. White takes Graves's back. Could be looking for a rear naked choke here - either way, Graves is in trouble. Graves is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. White looking for the choke from the back. Graves turns into White and is now in his guard.
Graves avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Graves wants to stand but White has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Graves stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. White swivels though and keeps the full guard. White escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Graves gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Graves got a little sloppy there for a moment and White has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Graves has managed to get both his arms back between White's legs - danger averted. White wants to get back to his feet but Graves is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. White keeping moving, preventing Graves from controlling successfully. Graves is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Graves stands and throws White's legs to the side, diving into side control. White prevents Graves from moving into mount. White tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Graves presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount! White is controlling an arm, preventing Graves from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.
White can't escape the position.
Graves scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish White?
Graves lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Graves is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, White has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Graves moves to back control. Graves is hanging on to White's back as he tries to escape.

A close round but Ernest Graves will probably get the nod. That's time! Back to the action!
White throws a head kick but Graves moves out of range.
White jabbing away but nothing is landing. A big right from Graves misses. White looks for the body kick but Graves saw that one coming. Graves appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body. White keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Graves slips under a jab. White looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. White looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. White fails to land with a series of punches.
Graves swings and misses with a shot to the body and White counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. White will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Graves is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Graves looking for a guillotine here but White defends easily.
Shannon White overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Graves is on top in guard.

That's one minute gone in the round. White wants to reverse the position here. Graves has hold of a leg though and he's dropped back looking for a kneebar! The fighters roll across the mat but White is forced to tap! White looks devastated but at least his leg points in the right direction.
