Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Riff Jetson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Makar Vershinin !
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Lou da Vinci and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vershinin connects with a single shot there.
Jetson throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Jetson uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Vershinin .
Jetson throws a series of punches but Vershinin avoids them all with ease.
A thudding body kick lands there by Jetson!

Jetson closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Vershinin 's guard.

Vershinin thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Vershinin pulls Jetson in close to prevent any damage.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Vershinin is trying to get back to half guard.
Jetson controls the position from side control.
Vershinin struggling a bit here.
Jetson misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jetson is staying tight to Vershinin 's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Jetson is looking to take a break and control but Vershinin is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Jetson gets the takedown into side control.

Jetson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Jetson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
You can see the frustration on Vershinin 's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Vershinin sneaks back into half guard.
Jetson is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Jetson passes to side control.
Jetson takes a little break here. Vershinin wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Vershinin tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Jetson presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Jetson throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Vershinin because Jetson loaded up on that one.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Vershinin stuffs the takedown attempt from Jetson. Jetson gets slowly back to his feet.
Vershinin pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Jetson appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Vershinin tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Jetson closes the distance and clinches up with Vershinin , looking for a takedown. Jetson pushes Vershinin against the cage but Vershinin circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Jetson drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Vershinin tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Jetson easily slips into full mount!

Vershinin is trying to get back to full guard.
Jetson perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Jetson seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Vershinin for as long as he can get away with.

Jetson is working for a kimura but Vershinin is defending it quite comfortably.

Vershinin has hold of Jetson's hands but Jetson slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Jetson is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Vershinin can do to turn this around?
Jetson uses his free foot to push down on Vershinin 's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Vershinin .
Jetson won't let Vershinin get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
Jetson tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Vershinin is squirming around, avoiding Jetson's attempts to control the action.

Jetson lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Vershinin is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Vershinin finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

and Jetson counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Jetson shoots for a takedown but Vershinin saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Riff Jetson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Vershinin scores with a kick to the midsection.
Vershinin slaps away a takedown attempt from Jetson, before circling back to the center of the mat.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Vershinin .

Jetson tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Vershinin defends well and Jetson ends up having to push Vershinin into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Riff Jetson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Jetson avoids a punch combination nicely.

Vershinin gets caught napping as Jetson dives in and scores a takedown. Vershinin manages to retain guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Vershinin wants to sweep here but Jetson controlling him for the moment.
Vershinin is looking to stand up but Jetson isn't so interested in that idea.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Jetson misses with a takedown attempt
and Jetson takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
A nice inside leg kick there by Jetson. That's going to slow Vershinin down.
Jetson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Vershinin pinned against the cage. Vershinin gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Riff Jetson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Makar Vershinin seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Vershinin just misses with a punch to the body.
Jetson changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Jetson shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Vershinin but Vershinin pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Jetson swings for the body but Vershinin moves out of range.
Jetson steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Vershinin . That one must have hurt.
Vershinin lands with a slapping head kick.
Jetson keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Vershinin .
Jetson takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Makar Vershinin is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Vershinin misses the jab.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Vershinin gets cracked there but stands up to it.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Vershinin misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Jetson.

Makar Vershinin comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Jetson has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
