Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Charley Rowe! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Gennaro Esposito! The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Horrible takedown attempt by Rowe or perhaps it was just good defense by Esposito, which made it look bad. Esposito shoots in looking for a takedown. Rowe tries to sprawl out of it but Esposito keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Rowe manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Esposito throws a sloppy head kick and Rowe moves out of range easily. Esposito shoots for a double leg takedown but Rowe sprawls well. He's pushed Esposito's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Rowe looks to land a body kick but Esposito moved away. Esposito goes for a double leg but Rowe avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Rowe continues to drive forward. Charley Rowe has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gennaro Esposito. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Esposito throws a head kick that misses. Rowe feinted there with a counter leg kick. Esposito is looking to clinch. Rowe appears to be looking for a big counter. Rowe gets tackled into the cage by Esposito. Esposito maintains the clinch. Rowe successfully pulls guard.
Esposito slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Esposito is in close to Rowe's body, working some short punches and elbows.
It looks like Charley Rowe has been cut. Rowe seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Rowe avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Esposito got a little sloppy there for a moment and Rowe has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Esposito has managed to get both his arms back between Rowe's legs - danger averted. Esposito is looking to pass into half guard but Rowe pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Rowe is in guard. Rowe working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Esposito's head. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Rowe's corner is telling him to maintain position. Rowe stands and steps away. Esposito gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Esposito misses with a jab, cross combination.
Rowe feinted there with a counter leg kick.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A low kick from Rowe misses and Esposito counters with a single leg into guard. Rowe didn't expect that. Rowe looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Esposito is defending well. Rowe quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Esposito has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Rowe celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
