6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Uesugi Kenshin! The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Fedor Mirinova and Aleksandr Martynov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kenshin pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Kenshin swings widly with a right hand
and Duk Koo counters with a lovely straight right hand! Kenshin misses with a double jab.
Kenshin throws a body punch but Duk Koo moves out of range. Duk Koo was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit. Duk Koo blocks a jab. Uesugi Kenshin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Duk Koo slips a straight right by Kenshin. Kenshin throws a big shot that misses. Kenshin misses with a hook
and Duk Koo connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kenshin misses with a double jab

We've been informed that Kenshin has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result. Kenshin missing with a left hand there. Duk Koo was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. A jab from Kenshin finds it's way through Duk Koo's defenses. Duk Koo avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Duk Koo swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. A swing and a miss from Kenshin. A combination from Kenshin does no damage. A big right from Kenshin misses. Duk Koo throws a big counter combination but Kenshin scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.

Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Kenshin jabbing away but nothing is landing. It looked like Duk Koo was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Kenshin. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Kenshin throws a body shot but no joy. It looked like Duk Koo wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Kenshin scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Kenshin might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. Kenshin cracks Duk Koo with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Kenshin misses with a hook. Kenshin throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Duk Koo seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter. Kenshin cracks Duk Koo with an open hand slap. Duk Koo on the wrong end of a nice jab.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Kenshin jabbing away but nothing is landing. A big left from Kenshin misses. Duk Koo seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance. Kenshin misses with a left hand and Duk Koo counters by clinching up. Kenshin tries to pull guard but Duk Koo holds him up against the cage and eventually Kenshin drops back down to his feet.
Duk Koo breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Duk Koo ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Duk Koo tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Kenshin manages to circle out of the way. A jab from Kenshin misses. Duk Koo takes a shot right to the bread basket. Kenshin misses with a lunging right hand
and Duk Koo counters with a lovely straight right hand! Kenshin looks to land a left hand but Duk Koo moved out of range nicely. Kenshin misses with a straight left. An attempted straight right counter from Duk Koo misses the target.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kenshin throws a shot from downtown. Duk Koo moves away and avoids it. A big right from Kenshin misses. Kenshin fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Kenshin throws a big shot that misses. Kenshin throws the left hand but Duk Koo avoids the punch easily. A little feinted left hand from Duk Koo on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Duk Koo slips under a jab from Kenshin. Kenshin tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Duk Koo manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Kenshin misses with a straight left. Duk Koo was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Kenshin throws an off balance right hand
enabling Duk Koo to counter with a crisp jab. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Uesugi Kenshin dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!

Kenshin tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Kenshin misses with a straight right. Kenshin is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Duk Koo. Duk Koo throws a big counter combination but Kenshin scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.

and Duk Koo counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Kim Duk Koo is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Duk Koo walks into a jab. Kenshin connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Kenshin throws a body shot but no joy. Duk Koo definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Duk Koo gets cracked there but stands up to it.
