7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Gary Willis! The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Yuuki Gou and Sosuke Kotani.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Willis looks to land a right hand but Kilpatrick moved out of range. A jab lands there for Kilpatrick. Willis moves into the clinch. Willis scores with a shot to the side of Kilpatrick's head. Kilpatrick can't get the takedown.
Willis lands with a light punch inside. Kilpatrick wants a takedown.
Kilpatrick goes for a takedown attempt but Willis pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jesse Kilpatrick. That's going to take a lot out of him. Kilpatrick throws a looping overhand right but Willis ducks down to avoid it. Willis just misses with a punch to the body.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Willis misses with a wild body shot. Willis moves into range and clinches up with Kilpatrick. I was talking to Kilpatrick's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. Willis lands with a short head shot on the inside. Kilpatrick has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Willis avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Willis lands with a short head shot on the inside. Willis manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Kilpatrick seems to have got his legs back now. Kilpatrick has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Willis after a bit of a struggle. Willis cracks Kilpatrick with a nice body shot.
