The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Buchanan stuffs the takedown.
Lazzarini throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Buchanan's waist but Buchanan gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Lazzarini off to one side.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Buchanan accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
A punch lands to the side of Lazzarini 's head but he takes it in his stride.
That has opened up Flavio Lazzarini's cut even more.
Buchanan cracks Lazzarini with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Buchanan throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Lazzarini blocks the body kick.
Buchanan feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Lazzarini shoots in for a double leg but Buchanan sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Buchanan throws a right hand that Lazzarini ducks under and follows up with a left that Lazzarini also avoids with ease.

Buchanan throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Lazzarini tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Buchanan is in Lazzarini's guard.
Lazzarini wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Buchanan manages to pass to side control.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

We've been hearing good reports from Buchanan's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
