Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Hirohidi Takanaka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carlos Maine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Takanaka kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Bleach - Dead Blood. Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Hirohidi Takanaka! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Carlos Maine! The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Seu Braga and Edson Gomes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Takanaka fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Maine is out of range. Maine throws a chopping leg kick but Takanaka manages to avoid taking any serious damage. Maine throws a wild body kick that Takanaka sees coming a mile off. Takanaka wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Takanaka tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Maine throws the left hand but Takanaka avoids the punch easily. The fighters circling - Maine throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Takanaka swings for the body but Maine moves out of range.
Takanaka ducks under a wild hook from Maine. Maine takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. A big left from Maine misses. Takanaka uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Maine has time to react. Takanaka lands a nice looking body kick. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Maine. Nice jab there from Takanaka.
That's one minute gone in the round. Maine takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Maine bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Takanaka is not content to let Maine control the position. Maine working away. Takanaka is looking to reverse the position. Maine is working to tighten is grip on Takanaka's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Takanaka has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Maine is really squeezing tight and eventually Takanaka passes out! Maine breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
