Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Enzo Salvatore (ranked 1307 p4p, 163 weight class) and Kendo Hirigushi (ranked 1256 p4p, 155 weight class). Salvatore comes to the cage accompanied by Reich mir die Hand. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Salvatore misses with a hook. Hirigushi ducked under it nicely.

Hirigushi has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Hirigushi feints a jab promting Salvatore to slip. Hirigushi then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Salvatore slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Salvatore is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Hirigushi is just riding it out for now. Salvatore eventually gives up the hold.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Salvatore catches Hirigushi with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Salvatore bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Hirigushi's head backwards.

Salvatore shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Hirigushi's guard.

Salvatore stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hirigushi swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Salvatore postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Hirigushi is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Salvatore, into his guard.
Hirigushi is looking to stand up but Salvatore won't let him.

Salvatore wants to hit a switch here but Hirigushi passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Salvatore there!

Hirigushi stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
Salvatore throws a lazy uppercut
and Hirigushi counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Salvatore is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
Salvatore throws a shot from downtown. Hirigushi moves away and avoids it.
Hirigushi is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Salvatore with a body shot.

Hirigushi throws a lazy right hand but Salvatore sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Salvatore throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Hirigushi's waist but Hirigushi gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Salvatore off to one side.
Salvatore shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Hirigushi but Hirigushi pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Despite the aggression on Hirigushi's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.

Kendo Hirigushi was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
