Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tom Harper (ranked 5530 p4p, 469 weight class) and Leondardo Song (ranked 3850 p4p, 370 weight class). Song has chosen Oldboy OST - The Last Waltz as his entrance music. This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Tom Harper! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Leondardo Song! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Song shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Harper but Harper pushes him off and we're back to square one. Harper tries to counter with a takedown but Song is quick to defend against it. Song fails with the takedown. Song fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Tom Harper has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Leondardo Song. Harper shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Song napping and manages to drive through into side control! Song has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it. Harper in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. Song sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Song moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Song is trying to keep Harper in close.
Harper trying to control but Song is working from the bottom. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Harper stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Song swivels though and keeps the full guard. Song working for a triangle but Harper defends it easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Song pulls Harper in close to prevent any damage. Harper postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Song preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Song is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Harper is aware though and is defending well. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Song working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Harper. Song is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Harper has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Harper cracks Song with a solid left hand. Harper knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Song on the ground. Song escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Harper gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Song is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Harper defends well.

Song is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Harper is aware though and is defending well. Harper lands a couple of elbows. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Harper trying to control the position from guard on top but Song is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Harper stopping the sweep attempt from Song. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Harper accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Song is trying to control the position but Harper postures up. Song throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Song has his foot on Harper's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Harper works his way back into a safe position though.

Song looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Harper puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Song is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Harper pulls his head out easily. Song is pressing down on Harper's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Harper scoring with some ground and pound. Harper stands up over Song, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Song lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.
Song got a little sloppy there for a moment and Harper has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Song has managed to get both his arms back between Harper's legs - danger averted. Harper is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Song is aware though and is defending well. Harper keeping moving, preventing Song from controlling successfully. Song postures up.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Harper has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Song is working away from the top position though. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
