Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Bennett Ewing (ranked 24939 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thomas Katzarian (ranked 5317 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of

0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Thomas Katzarian! The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Trevor Gratis and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ewing shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Ewing working some strikes from top position. Ewing stopping the sweep attempt from Katzarian. Katzarian doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Katzarian wants to sweep here but Ewing controlling him for the moment. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Katzarian pulls Ewing in close to his closed guard and prevents Ewing from doing any damage or advancing position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Katzarian throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

That's one minute gone in the round. Ewing stands up and waves to Katzarian to follow him. Katzarian shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Ewing manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Ewing utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Katzarian tries to free his leg and advance position but Ewing is retaining full guard. Katzarian chips away with some ground and pound. Ewing trying to control the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Ewing keeping full guard, as Katzarian tries to pass. Ewing could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Katzarian lands a couple of elbows. Katzarian not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Katzarian's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Katzarian missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Katzarian wants to pass the guard but Ewing is keeping the position. Katzarian controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Ewing avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Ewing is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Katzarian. Katzarian tries to clinch but Ewing moves away and Ewing counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Katzarian desperately trying to maintain half guard. Katzarian works his way to full guard. Good work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Katzarian is pulling down on Ewing's head to control his posture. Ewing throws an elbow that misses. Katzarian uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Ewing's guard. Nice move by Katzarian! Katzarian stays in close to Ewing's body and controls the position. Ewing looking to hit a scissor sweep but Katzarian is one step ahead there. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Katzarian is pushing down on Ewing's leg trying to pass to half guard. Ewing is fighting to maintain full guard but Katzarian has managed to sneak the leg through. Katzarian winds up and cracks Ewing with a swinging punch to the side of the head. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Thomas Katzarian will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Ewing tries to counter by clinching up but Katzarian breaks away and moves out of range. Katzarian tries to clinch up but Ewing circles away and keeps his distance. Katzarian wants to clinch. Ewing throws a right and a left that Katzarian avoids nicely. Katzarian fails in his attempt to clinch. Excellent takedown into side control there by Katzarian. Katzarian is putting a hurting on Ewing here, landing some big shots from side control. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Katzarian throws a strike aimed at the side of Ewing's head but Ewing avoids it well. Katzarian controlling the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ewing is looking to regain half guard here but Katzarian keeps moving and retains side control. Katzarian content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. Ewing takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Ewing is rocked! Thomas Katzarian has got the better of the ground game so far. Katzarian working the head with strikes. Oh Ewing is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! A big shot lands for Katzarian! That's hurt Ewing! Will he recover? Katzarian fires away with more strikes and the referee has to step in to stop the fight!
