Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tuccio Turturro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Iain Waddell!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Jeff Smith and Chris Saunders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Turturro drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
You can see the frustration on Waddell's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Turturro tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Waddell is trying to control Turturro's posture but Turturro avoids it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Turturro is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Waddell will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Turturro is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Waddell is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Turturro is staying tight to Waddell's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Turturro has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Turturro is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Waddell knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Turturro has hold of Waddell's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Waddell tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Turturro cranks the arm and Waddell screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Waddell, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Tuccio Turturro!
After the fight, Tuccio Turturro was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
