Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Ian Laperierre (ranked 2191 p4p, 113 weight class) and Lyodo Machida (ranked 1694 p4p, 84 weight class). Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Lyodo Machida enters the cage!

With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Lyodo Machida!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Tiny Johnson and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Machida moves to clinch but Laperierre breaks away
and Laperierre makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Machida tries to clinch but Laperierre moves away
and Machida takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Machida swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Machida swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Machida walks into a left hand.
Laperierre ducks under a wild hook from Machida.
Laperierre seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Machida misses with an uppercut

and Laperierre counters with a crisp one two that drops Machida! Laperierre thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Machida to his feet! Machida is in big trouble!


Machida is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Laperierre loads up on a big right hand but Machida slips the punch.
Machida is still on wobbly legs! Can Laperierre finish him?

Laperierre moves into the clinch successfully.
Machida wants to get back to striking at distance but Laperierre won't allow it.
Machida is trying to force a seperation but Laperierre has the dominant position.
Laperierre gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Machida.
Laperierre lands a body punch.
Machida seems to have recovered his senses.
Laperierre lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.

Laperierre manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Machida is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Laperierre pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Laperierre digs a right hand into Machida's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Machida's gas tank.
Laperierre really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

and Laperierre counters with a big right hand! Oh Machida is in trouble here! Laperierre follows up with more strikes and that's it! The ref has stopped it!
