Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Juan Suung (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tenzin Tharchin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tharchin takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Suung has closed the distance and engaged Tharchin in a clinch.
Suung stalling.
Suung escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Suung moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
It looks like Tenzin Tharchin has been cut. Tharchin moves into range and clinches up with Suung. Tharchin goes for a takedown in the clinch but Suung prevents it.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Suung has picked Tharchin up - he's going for a ride! Suung dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. Tharchin is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Suung looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Suung wants to take a breather but Tharchin is having none of it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tharchin wants to get back to full guard. Suung is looking for a kimura here.
Suung passes to full mount! Suung looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. Tharchin is wriggling around trying to escape.
Suung controlling from mount. Tharchin wants to hold on but Suung pushes him away. Tharchin looks gassed!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Suung looking for a guillotine from mount but Tharchin is having none of it. Tharchin tries to reverse the position but Suung maintains control. Suung looking to control and managing it successfully. Suung mounts Tharchin! Really nice guard pass there! Tharchin really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Suung forces the positional change into back control. You can see the frustration on Tharchin's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Suung has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Tharchin has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Suung is working hard for the rear naked choke here.
Suung is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Tharchin defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined. Suung looking to break Tharchin's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Tharchin remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Suung will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke! Tharchin can't escape the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Suung is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Tharchin knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Tharchin for a finish. Tharchin manages to reverse the position and now he's in Suung's guard. Nice work there by Tharchin.
Suung working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Tharchin doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Tharchin manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Tharchin tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Tharchin circles away from the clinch attempt and Tharchin counters by clinching up. Suung tries to score a body lock takedown but Tharchin shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Tharchin drops down looking for an ankle pick but Suung pulls his leg out and moves away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Suung tries to close the distance and clinch up but Tharchin swats him away and circles back towards the center. Suung is looking to clinch but Tharchin is avoiding it.
Tharchin darts in and clinches Suung up against the cage. Tharchin blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Suung connects with a knee to the head.

Suung looking for a takedown. Suung with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head. Tharchin is breathing heavily. Suung stalling in the clinch but Tharchin improves position. Suung with a knee to the head.

That's one minute gone in the round. Tharchin escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Suung tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Tharchin swivels and escapes. Suung clinches up with Tharchin and pushes him back against the cage. Tharchin is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Suung gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Suung is pressed up against the cage. Tharchin has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Suung down to the mat. Suung avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Suung lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Tharchin circles away quickly and effectively. Tharchin fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Juan Suung has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tenzin Tharchin. Suung shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Tharchin as he jumps to the side. Suung shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Tharchin as he jumps to the side. Tharchin misses with a series of wild punches.
Juan Suung is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Suung bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Horrible takedown by Tharchin or perhaps it was just good defense by Suung which made him look bad. A head kick from Suung lands but Tharchin takes it in his stride. Suung clinches up with Tharchin and pushes him back against the cage. Suung has Tharchin pressed against the cage.
Tharchin tries to break the clinch but Suung is controlling the position. Suung unloads a knee to the mid-section. Tharchin lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh. Tharchin on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Tharchin has had enough of the clinch but Suung keeps him there for the moment. Suung landing knees to the body.
Suung manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Suung landing some nice looking knees to the body.

Suung blocks an elbow strike. Suung using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Tharchin has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Suung ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Suung no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Tharchin trying to control but Suung is working from the bottom. Suung looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Suung is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Tharchin trying to control the position from guard on top but Suung is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Suung throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Tharchin controlling from the top position. Tharchin must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Tharchin pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Suung is keeping the position for now. Suung has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Tharchin can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Suung cracks a nice hook into Tharchin's ribs. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Suung shoots in but Tharchin avoids the takedown attempt easily. Tharchin will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Tharchin shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Tharchin showed some decent athleticism there. Suung gets full guard. Suung is looking to sinch up a triangle. Tharchin throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Suung's body to avoid the submission. Suung has instead reached around Tharchin's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Suung arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
