PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jake Jester (ranked 6048 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rick Sirck (ranked 8374 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Jake Jester has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Jake Jester seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jake Jester!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rick Sirck!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Alec Ball and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sirck moves in looking to clinch but Jester pushes him off.
Jester shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Sirck as he avoids it easily.
Sirck swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

so Jester counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Jester drops back looking for a leg! Sirck is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Sirck manages to kick Jester off! Jester jumps back into Sirck's guard.
Jester pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Sirck is keeping the position for now.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jester postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Jester distracts Sirck with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Jester with a flurry of punches that miss.
Jester sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Sirck keeping moving, preventing Jester from controlling successfully.
Jester wants to stand but Sirck is controlling his posture from full guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Jester decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Still in half guard, Jester seems content to control.
Jester lands strikes from half guard.
Jester controlling the action here.

Jester stands up and beckons Sirck to join him on the feet.
Jester has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Sirck.
Jester throws a body punch but Sirck moves out of range.

Jester has closed the distance and engaged Sirck in a clinch.

Sirck jumps into guard, dragging Jester to the mat.
Sirck throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

Sirck is working an open guard so Jester takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Sirck is defended easily by Jester.
Sirck looks winded!

Jester closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Jester lands in his opponent's guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Sirck is looking to stand back up but Jester counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Sirck.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Jester performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Jester seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Sirck for as long as he can get away with.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jake Jester dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Jester fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Jester gets a double leg takedown into Sirck's guard.
Jester prevents Sirck from getting back to his feet.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Jester accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Jester seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Jake Jester overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Jester drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Jester jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Jester is stalling in the full guard.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Sirck pulls Jester in to control the position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Jester shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Jester changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Sirck tries to avoid it but Jester manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Sirck to the ground. Sirck escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Jester looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Sirck is fending him off so far but Jester persists. Nope, Sirck circles away and we're back to standing.
Sirck throws a head kick that half lands.

Sirck trying to keep a closed guard but Jester is proving a slippery customer.
Jester loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Sirck can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Jester controls the pace.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Jester gets a takedown into half guard.

Sirck is defending against the submission attempts here by Jester.

Jester decides to stand and escape the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Jester darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Sirck wants to control but Jester is keeping busy.
Sirck pushes Jester off looking to stand but Jester dives back in and keeps control.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Jester slows the pace down in half guard.
Jester's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Jester wants to control from the top but Sirck keeps moving.

Sirck pushes Jester off and scrambles back to his feet.

Sirck takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Jester seems to be working for a kimura but Sirck defends the submission attempt.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Jester is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Jester working over Sirck with some ground and pound. Sirck looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Jester takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Jester decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Jester is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Sirck's half guard.
Jester wants to lay and pray for a moment but Sirck keeps working.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jester is thwarting Sirck's attempts to control the position.
Jester controlling the action here.
Jester throwing shots but Sirck is blocking nicely.
Jester looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Jester is working for a submission of some sort.
Jester thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Sirck's head.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Jester shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Sirck's guard.
Sirck is wriggling around but Jester manages to pass to half guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Rick Sirck comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Jester has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
