Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Scott John (ranked 402 p4p, 41 weight class) and Colin Turnbull (ranked 914 p4p, 94 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Turnbull moves out of range of the body kick.
Turnbull throws a leg kick but John checks it.
Turnbull lands with a thumping leg kick.
John connects with the punch.
John has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Helsinki Private Gym in the buildup to the fight.
John throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Turnbull lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
A nice inside leg kick there by John. That's going to slow Turnbull down.
John swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Turnbull.

John steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Turnbull.
The fighters circling - John throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
It seemed like Turnbull was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
John lands a nice looking kick to the body. Turnbull takes a step back to recover.
John lands a really nice looking cross but Turnbull seems unphased.

John scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Turnbull doesn't seem bothered though.
Turnbull loads up on a big right hand but John slips the punch.
Turnbull throws a low kick but John avoids it.
Scott John seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
John tries to close the distance and clinch up but Turnbull swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Turnbull throws a solid leg kick but John takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Turnbull.
That kick from John tenderised Turnbull's leg. Turnbull is trying to keep his angry face on.
John uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Turnbull.
John is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

John throws a shot from downtown. Turnbull moves away and avoids it.
Turnbull is clearly trying to counter these attacks from John with a body shot.
John lunges at Turnbull with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Turnbull's hand.

Turnbull feints a counter leg kick.
Turnbull gets cracked there but stands up to it.

Turnbull takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
John throws the left hand but Turnbull avoids the punch easily.

and John counters with a good low kick that Turnbull was not able to check.
Turnbull swats away the attempt to clinch by John.
Both fighters circling a little - John finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
John connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Turnbull counters with a body kick.
A clash of legs there as Turnbull blocks the low kick.
This has been an exciting period of action!
John tests Turnbull's chin there with a solid looking shot.
John is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Turnbull throws out a counter right but John avoids it with no problem.
Good exchange - John coming out on top.
Turnbull takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Turnbull looks to land a right hand but John moved out of range.
John is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.

John throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Turnbull moves out of range as John strikes.
John throws a leg kick which misses Turnbull's front leg but catches the back leg as Turnbull tries to avoid it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Scott John dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Turnbull is on the wrong end of a nice combination from John.

We are yet to see a takedown attempt from Turnbull in the fight. On paper you would think he is the more dominant ground fighter so let's see if these unusual tactics pay off.
John throws a lazy right hand but Turnbull sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Both these guys seem content to just stand up and trade with eachother but Turnbull might want to think about changing up his gameplan a bit because over the course of the fight, John has got the better of the exchanges.

John wants to clinch up but Turnbull keeps it at a distance.
Turnbull lands a nice leg kick that just misses John's sensitive parts.
Turnbull misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

and Turnbull counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.

Turnbull throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Turnbull slips a straight right by John.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from John. Turnbull shrugs it off though.

John takes the fight into the clinch.
John lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Turnbull blocks an elbow strike.

Turnbull swings wildly with an uppercut but John uses good head movement to avoid it.

John throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting John here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

That has opened up Colin Turnbull's cut even more.
Turnbull's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.

John lands an uppercut in the clinch that drops Turnbull to his knees! John keeps firing more shots against his stricken opponent and the referee jumps in to save him!
