Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Joe Bailey (ranked 2316 p4p, 275 weight class) and Winslow Berhardt (ranked 2656 p4p, 303 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joe Bailey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 14 - 3, fighting out of London, Winslow Berhardt!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Kenichi Hosakawa and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bailey throws a body punch but Berhardt moves out of range.
We've been told by Bailey's head coaches at Lovelair Muay Thai/MMA that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Bailey throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Berhardt bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Berhardt throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Bailey's waist but Bailey gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Berhardt off to one side.

Berhardt moves out of range of the body kick.

Berhardt flicks out a counter leg kick but Bailey steps away.
Crunch! Bailey slams his shin into Berhardt's torso.
Bailey misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Berhardt.
Berhardt throws a right and a left that Bailey avoids nicely.
It looked like Bailey was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Berhardt has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Bailey finds it's way round the side to connect with Berhardt's head.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Berhardt loads up on a big right hand but Bailey slips the punch.
A quick step to the side and Bailey tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Berhardt takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Bailey pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Berhardt back to the cage. Bailey follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Berhardt accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

My spies in London 10th Planet MMA inform me that Berhardt has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Berhardt is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

A close round but Winslow Berhardt will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Berhardt throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Bailey stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Berhardt looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Berhardt has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Berhardt looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Bailey with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Bailey wants to sweep but Berhardt has passed to side control!

A lull in the action here as Berhardt stalls from top position.
Bailey parries the strikes from Berhardt easily there. Berhardt is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Bailey to escape.
Berhardt creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Bailey sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Winslow Berhardt showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Bailey's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Bailey throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Berhardt feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Baileys jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Berhardt cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Berhardt takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Berhardt is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Bailey has managed to escape the submission attempt.
