Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Edmond Wilkins (ranked 6807 p4p, 0 weight class) and Derek Edwards (ranked 5478 p4p, 0 weight class). Derek Edwards will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Edmond Wilkins! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Derek Edwards! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Steve Smith and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Edwards closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Wilkins did well to prevent Edwards getting side control. Wilkins has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Edwards is on him like a limpet, forcing Wilkins back against the cage. Wilkins manages to pull guard.
Edwards drops back looking for a leg! Wilkins is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Wilkins manages to kick Edwards off! Edwards jumps back into Wilkins's guard. Wilkins is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Edwards trying to control but Wilkins is working from the bottom. Wilkins is pulling down on Edwards's head. It's preventing any offense from Edwards, at least for the moment. Wilkins looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Edwards pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Wilkins is keeping the position for now. Wilkins pulls Edwards in to control the position. Wilkins thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. Wilkins has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Wilkins is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Edwards is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Edwards misses with the combination.
Edwards drives through with a takedown into Wilkins's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Wilkins is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Edwards defends well. Edwards trying to control but Wilkins is working from the bottom. Edwards must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Wilkins is adopting a defensive guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wilkins's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Edwards wants to pass the guard but Wilkins is keeping the position. Wilkins wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Wilkins stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Edwards. Edwards looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Wilkins wants to stand but Edwards is controlling the position. Wilkins throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Wilkins has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Edwards can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Edwards in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Derek Edwards will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Wilkins throws a series of punches but Edwards avoids them all with ease. Wilkins could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. The fight stays on the outside here - Edwards looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Wilkins tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Edwards paws at him with a jab and circles away. Edwards raises up his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick. Wilkins fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Edwards avoids it really well and circles away. Wilkins changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Wilkins, as that shot connected.
Edwards scores with a takedown into Wilkins's guard. Wilkins pushes Edwards off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wilkins tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Edwards defends well and Wilkins ends up having to push Edwards into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Wilkins circles away from the clinch attempt.
Edwards tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Wilkins manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Wilkins thinks about countering with a body kick. Edwards clinches with his opponent.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Edwards tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Wilkins paws at him with a jab and circles away. Edwards drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Wilkins seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Wilkins has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Wilkins is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched. This has been an exciting period of action! Edwards lands a hook to the side of the head. Wilkins is trying to pull guard but Edwards turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Edmond Wilkins. That's going to take a lot out of him.

A shot in the inside from Wilkins. Edwards is trying to maintain a safe position but Wilkins gets an underhook and turns Edwards into the cage. Wilkins successfully pulls guard.
Edwards gets to his feet. Wilkins looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Edwards scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Wilkins slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Wilkins trying to control the position here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Edwards wants to pass the guard but Wilkins is keeping the position. Wilkins is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Edwards forces his way into half guard. Edwards thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Wilkins wants to control but Edwards is keeping busy and won't allow it. Edwards is working for a kimura but Wilkins is defending it quite comfortably.
Wilkins holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Edmond Wilkins will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Edwards got a little sloppy there for a moment and Wilkins has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Edwards has managed to get both his arms back between Wilkins's legs - danger averted. Wilkins is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. Derek Edwards has got the better of the ground game so far. Edwards takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Wilkins is looking for a triangle but Edwards pushes his legs off easily.
Edwards stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Wilkins swivels though and keeps the full guard. Wilkins controlling Edwards's posture. Edwards is looking to stand up but Wilkins won't let him.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Wilkins is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Wilkins continues to stall.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Edwards scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Wilkins can't do much from the bottom here. Edwards avoids the strikes from the bottom by Wilkins.
And that's the end of the fight! Derek Edwards comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Edwards has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
