Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Boris Bradley! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Albert Gonzales! The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Matheus Silva and Felipe Paraventi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gonzales has taken the fight to the clinch.
Bradley is trying to pull guard but Gonzales turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Gonzales breaks from the clinch.
A big right from Gonzales misses. The fight stays on the outside here - Bradley looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Bradley tries to sprawl but Gonzales drives through with a takedown into half guard. Bradley knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gonzales on the ground. Gonzales is taking a breather. Bradley says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Bradley tries to roll over but Gonzales keeps him under control. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gonzales is controlling the pace.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gonzales is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Bradley sees it coming and defends easily. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Gonzales in particular looking to stall.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Gonzales connects with a nice short shot to Bradley's temple. Gonzales controlling the action here. Gonzales is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Bradley doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Gonzales. Bradley really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Gonzales not landing any meaningful shots this time.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gonzales slows the pace down in half guard. Gonzales should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Bradley tries to get to full guard but Gonzales has control of the leg.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Gonzales is taking a breather. Bradley says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Let's hope that Gonzales has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Gonzales moves into full mount! Bradley won't be happy about that! Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Gonzales controlling his opponent. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Albert Gonzales dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!
Bradley moves out of range as Gonzales throws a body kick.
Bradley tries to clinch but Gonzales is having none of it. Gonzales rushes Bradley and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Gonzales's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Bradley misses with a straight right. Gonzales drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Bradley defends it well. Excellent takedown into side control there by Gonzales. Gonzales works to advance to full mount. Bradley defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. Gonzales controlling the position easily from mount. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. The referee warns Bradley that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Gonzales has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gonzales lands a big elbow - Bradley is in trouble! More strikes from the mount and Bradley is forced to tap out!
