Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the super heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rubens Charles! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
15 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Cicero Dos Santos! The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Leandro Rodrigues and Luis Engracia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dos Santos closes the distance and pushes Charles back into the cage. Charles successfully pulls guard.
Dos Santos preventing the sweep. Dos Santos missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Dos Santos pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Charles is keeping the position for now. Charles pulls Dos Santos in to control the position. Charles keeping full guard, as Dos Santos tries to pass. Dos Santos throws a big elbow that misses. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Charles looking to hit a scissor sweep but Dos Santos is one step ahead there. Charles bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Dos Santos's guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Dos Santos tries to land a sweep but no joy. Dos Santos looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Charles puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Dos Santos wants to sweep but Charles has passed to side control! Charles just content to control the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dos Santos tries to get back to half guard but can't. Charles slows the pace down. Dos Santos looks to move to half guard but instead Charles has passed into mount! Damn! Dos Santos is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Charles content just to control the position here. Charles wants to take his opponent's back but Dos Santos doesn't allow it. Charles takes Dos Santos's back. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Charles just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dos Santos is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Charles off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted. Charles working for a choke but Dos Santos is defending well. Charles really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Dos Santos. Dos Santos tries to break free.
Dos Santos is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.

Charles controls the position. Charles working for the rear naked choke here. He's got one arm under but Dos Santos is defending well. A couple of punches soften him up though and Charles has tightened the hold! This one could be all over! It is! Dos Santos taps out!

A relieved looking Rubens Charles thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
