Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
23 - 15 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Anthony Pettis! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
13 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Anthony Birchack! The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Leandro Rodrigues and Felipe Paraventi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pettis throws a nice looking combination but Birchack bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Birchack feints the counter takedown. Pettis moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Pettis punishes Birchack's body with a nice straight punch. Anthony Pettis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Pettis moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. Donk. Pettis catches Birchack right on the button with a cross. Nice combo by Pettis! Oh, that's hurt him - Birchack falls to the canvas and Pettis follows him into side control.
Birchack is rocked! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Birchack tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Pettis presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount! Birchack is still in real trouble! Can Pettis finish him? Birchack manages to regain half guard. Good work. Birchack tries to roll over but Pettis keeps him under control. Birchack seems to have recovered his senses.
That's one minute gone in the round. Well, if Pettis is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Birchack is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Pettis passes to full mount! Birchack is working to get back to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Pettis content just to control the position here. Birchack is trying desperately to improve position. Pettis manages to capitalize on a mistake by Birchack to take his back! Birchack tries to escape but Pettis has the hooks in and won't let him break free. Pettis controls the action. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Pettis is hanging on to Birchack's back as he tries to escape.
Birchack has hold of Pettis's leg, trying to break free but it's let Pettis lock up a rear naked choke! This could be big trouble! Birchack is turning an unusual color here… he's out! Pettis throws him to one side and jumps onto the cage to celebrate with his fans.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Anthony Pettis! Our winner, Anthony Pettis, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
