PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Franco Santo (ranked 2054 p4p, 100 weight class) and Nin Ja Tendo (ranked 3215 p4p, 136 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Nin Ja Tendo!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Matti Vanhoillinen and Arvi Lind.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tendo tries to clinch there but Santo circles away.
Santo was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Tendo looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Tendo tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Tendo wants to clinch.
Santo has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Tendo changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Santo tries to avoid it but Tendo manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Santo to the ground. Santo escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
As Tendo looks to move away, Santo throws a big counter combo but Tendo just gets out of the way.
Tendo has his takedown stuffed
enabling Santo to counter with a crisp jab.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tendo fails with an attempt to clinch.
As Tendo tries to get set, Santo tries to push him back and clinch up but Tendo manages to avoid the attempt.

and Santo counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Santo.
Franco Santo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nin Ja Tendo.

Santo stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Tendo looks winded!

Santo lands a left hand that snaps the head of Tendo backwards.
Santo lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Santo lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Tendo backwards.
Santo lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.

Santo lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Tendo backwards.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Santo creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Santo creates a bit of space for himself and rocks Tendo with a big uppercut! Tendo tries to clinch up but Santo pushes him back against the cage and lands another monster strike that crumples Tendo to the mat! Tendo covers up and Santo unloads with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!
