Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kari Krossi (ranked 2445 p4p, 342 weight class) and Mike Smith (ranked 2631 p4p, 363 weight class). Krossi comes to the cage accompanied by Blümchen - Ich bin wieder hier. The crowd seem to be enjoying Smith's choice of entrance music: Therion - Sitra Ahra. Mike Smith is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

31 - 31 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mike Smith!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, William Peck and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith throws a head kick that misses
and Krossi counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Smith jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Krossi swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Smith misses with a body punch
and Krossi counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
It looks like Mike Smith has been cut.
Krossi throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Krossi clinches with his opponent.
Krossi misses with the head strike.
Krossi makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Good body shot from Smith.
Smith wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Krossi has him pressed against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Smith breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Krossi uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Smith.
It looked like Krossi wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Smith wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Smith takes a swing at Krossi's ribcage but misses.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Krossi just misses with a punch to the body.
Krossi tries to close the distance and clinch but Smith swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Smith misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Krossi.
Some wild striking there from Smith.
Mike Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Smith throws a nice head kick!
Krossi fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Smith.
Smith connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Krossi throws a sloppy body shot
and Smith counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
A head kick by Smith misses
and Krossi counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Smith takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Krossi ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Smith moves away.
Krossi tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Smith was well out of range. Poor timing from Krossi.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Smith misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Krossi is looking to wear down Smith with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Krossi lands a jab to Smith's midsection.
Smith throws a big shot that misses.
Smith tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Krossi blocks a jab.
As Smith tries to get set, Krossi tries to push him back and clinch up but Smith manages to avoid the attempt.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Smith cracks Krossi with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Krossi gets clipped by a big right hand and goes down spinning to the canvas! Smith gets the back mount and begins to drop bombs on his rocked foe! Krossi is too out of it to defend against the strikes and the referee jumps in to save him from the beatdown!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:16 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mike Smith!
