Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Carmen Jones (ranked 5453 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sergio Menezes (ranked 24835 p4p, 0 weight class). Sergio Menezes will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Sergio Menezes!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Micheangelo Fripello and Ryoma Takatsuka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Jones as Menezes shoots in.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Menezes.
Menezes throws a wild body kick that Jones sees coming a mile off.
Jones closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Menezes's guard.
Menezes is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Jones dives into side control.

Jones is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Menezes to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Menezes shrugs it off.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
No luck for Menezes with that takedown attempt.

Horrible takedown attempt by Menezes or perhaps it was just good defense by Jones, which made it look bad.
Carmen Jones has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sergio Menezes.
The fighters circling - Menezes throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Jones went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Menezes will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Menezes has closed the distance and engaged Jones in a clinch.
Jones ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Jones no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Menezes wants to get up but he can't break Jones's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Jones lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.
