PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Bill Graff (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Harrison Lopez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lopez has chosen Tupac - Hit em up' as his entrance music. Harrison Lopez is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bill Graff!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Harrison Lopez!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Summer Carpenter and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Graff throws a sloppy head kick and Lopez moves out of range easily.

and Graff moves into the clinch.
The is referee keeping an eye on Graff - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Lopez tries to break the clinch but Graff is controlling the position.

Lopez prevents the takedown attempt.

Graff lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Graff is looking to pass Lopez's guard but actually Lopez recovers to full guard.
Graff trying to control but Lopez is working from the bottom.

Graff drops back, looking for a kneebar! Lopez looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Lopez looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Lopez!
Graff manages to get back to half guard.
Lopez wants to stand up but Graff is controlling the position.

Graff looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Lopez is looking to take a break and control but Graff is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Graff has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Lopez is working away from the top position though.
Graff tries to get to full guard but Lopez has control of the leg.
Graff gets full guard.
Lopez wants to stand but Graff is controlling his posture from full guard.

Graff is striking but Lopez is not phased and passes to half guard.
Graff wants to control but Lopez is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Graff looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Graff has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Lopez can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Graff is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Lopez looks like he's trying to stand up.
Graff is looking to take a break and control but Lopez is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Graff is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Lopez defends it well.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Lopez fails with the takedown

and Graff counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Graff is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Graff trying to advance position but Lopez counters by regaining guard.

Graff has gone for a leg lock! Lopez slips out almost immediately though and dives into Graff's guard.
Lopez trying to control but Graff is working from the bottom.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Graff looking for subs off his back but Lopez has passed one foot through into half guard.
Lopez seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Lopez tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Graff.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Lopez stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Graff to get to his feet.
Lopez shoots in for a takedown but Graff shows good takedown defense.

Lopez tries to keep at a distance but Graff has taken the fight into the clinch.
Graff is struggling to control the position.
Lopez gets underhooks to prevent Graff's takedown attempt.

Lopez tightens his grip and picks Graff up, before dumping him to the ground. Graff manages to land in guard.
Graff throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Graff is trying to control but can't.
Graff is looking to improve his position.
Graff moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Graff has his foot on Lopez's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Lopez works his way back into a safe position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Bill Graff will probably get the nod.
That's time! Graff's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Lopez seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Graff does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Lopez passes to full mount!

Graff tries to hold on but Lopez pushes him away.
Graff is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
Graff tries to reverse the position but Lopez maintains control.

Lopez stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
Harrison Lopez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lopez fails in his attempt to clinch.
Graff throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Lopez keeps the fight on the outside.
Lopez ducks down and throws a hook to the body.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Lopez tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Graff has closed the distance and engaged Lopez in a clinch.
Lopez can't get the takedown.

Graff is trying to trip Lopez. He has hold of a leg but Lopez is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Graff persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
