Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Joey Hatton (ranked 747 p4p, 100 weight class) and Ispa Mfer (ranked 732 p4p, 99 weight class). Hatton comes to the cage accompanied by deadman. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joey Hatton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ispa Mfer!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Damien Edna and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mfer jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Mfer lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Hatton takes a swing at Mfer's ribcage but misses.
A chopping leg kick lands by Mfer.
Hatton needs to keep his hands up - Mfer had a free shot at his head there.
Mfer works Hatton's body with a nice hook.
Ispa Mfer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mfer scoring well with a low kick there.
Mfer scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
A big right from Mfer misses.
Mfer throws a body kick, spinning off balance

and Hatton decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Mfer's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Hatton pushes down on Mfer's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Hatton wants to pass to mount but Mfer is defending the position.

Hatton is working hard here to advance position.
Hatton wants to take a breather but Mfer is having none of it.
Mfer is positioning himself well to prevent Hatton advancing to mount.

Mfer has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.

Hatton fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Hatton cracks Mfer with a good jab.
Hatton misses with a body shot.
Mfer lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Mfer thuds his right hand into Hatton's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Hatton will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Mfer throws a looping overhand right but Hatton ducks down to avoid it.
Hatton closes the distance and clinches up with Mfer, looking for a takedown. Hatton pushes Mfer against the cage but Mfer circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Mfer looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joey Hatton. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hatton takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Hatton slips a straight right by Mfer.
Mfer connects with a right hand. Hatton shakes it off.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Hatton jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Mfer throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Hatton sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Mfer throws a chopping leg kick but Hatton manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
A swing and a miss from Mfer.
It looked like Hatton was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Mfer.
Jab, jab by Mfer - just one landing.
Nice shot by Mfer.
Mfer lands a nice looking kick to the body. Hatton takes a step back to recover.
Mfer feints and then cracks Hatton's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Hatton down.
Hatton fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Mfer scores with the left hand. Hatton knows he should have avoided that one.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Mfer lands a big right hand that sends Hatton crashing to the mat! Mfer stays standing though and waves Hatton back to his feet!


Hatton is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Mfer throws a body punch but Hatton moves out of range.

Mfer gets caught napping as Hatton dives in and scores a takedown. Mfer manages to retain guard.
Hatton wants to control from the top but Mfer keeps moving.
We've been hearing that Hatton has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

Mfer keeping moving, preventing Hatton from controlling successfully.
Hatton is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Mfer is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Hatton wants to pass the guard but Mfer is keeping the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ispa Mfer dominated that round.
That's time! Hatton's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

and Hatton counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Hatton wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mfer keeps working.
Mfer is doing well to control the position and prevent Hatton from advancing to side control.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mfer is concentrating on defense, preventing Hatton from advancing position.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Hatton is taking a breather. Mfer says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Hatton is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Mfer sees it coming and defends easily.

Hatton tries to pass to full mount but Mfer defends it.
Mfer tries to get to full guard but Hatton has control of the leg.
Hatton wants to pass the guard but Mfer is defending well.
Mfer is controlling Hatton's trapped leg to prevent Hatton from advancing to side control.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Hatton displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Mfer throws out the jab.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Mfer misses with a body kick.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Mfer.
Hatton feinted with a counter takedown.
Hatton gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Mfer.
Ispa Mfer is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Hatton lands with a straight right. Mfer didn't see that one coming.
Hatton ducks under a wild hook from Mfer.
Hatton throws a looping overhand right but Mfer ducks down to avoid it.
Hatton lands with an uppercut that bounces Mfer off the cage and back into range.
Donk. Mfer catches Hatton right on the button with a cross.
Mfer lands a nice leg kick that just misses Hatton's sensitive parts.
The fighters circling - Mfer throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Hatton closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Mfer is refusing to be controlled, as Hatton sits in half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Mfer moves into full guard.
Hatton trying to control but Mfer is working from the bottom.
Hatton tries to free his leg and advance position but Mfer is retaining full guard.
Hatton wants to control from the top but Mfer keeps moving.
Hatton passes Mfer's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Hatton wants to pass the guard but Mfer is defending well.
Hatton wants to take a breather but Mfer is having none of it.
Hatton is stalling here. Mfer is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Hatton seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Mfer has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Mfer moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Joey Hatton will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Mfer connects with a leg kick. Hatton looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Hatton throws a hook to the side of Mfer's head but Mfer sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Hatton throws a lazy right hand but Mfer sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Hatton takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Hatton walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Mfer blocks a jab.
Mfer thumps Hatton with a low kick.
Nice uppercut there from Hatton.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mfer fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Hatton has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Mfer throws a hook to the side of Hatton's head but Hatton sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Mfer has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Hatton looks to land a left hand but Mfer moved out of range nicely.

Hatton moves into range and connects with a jab.
Mfer shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Hatton avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Hatton swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Hatton misses with a takedown attempt
enabling Mfer to counter with a crisp jab.
Mfer feints and then cracks Hatton's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Hatton down.
Hatton takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Mfer stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Mfer wants it to stay on the feet.

Hatton looks to throw the jab but Mfer is out of range.
Mfer looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Hatton's corner calls for a 1-2. Hatton obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Hatton misses with a hook. Mfer ducked under it nicely.
Mfer only half commits to the counter leg kick.
Hatton ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Hatton was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.

Mfer connects with an inside leg kick.
Mfer lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Hatton at a distance.
Hatton is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Hatton tries to score a power double leg takedown but Mfer sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Hatton somewhat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joey Hatton. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Mfer just misses with a punch to the body.
Mfer fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Hatton.
Hatton looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Hatton shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Mfer misses with an uppercut. Hatton saw that one coming.
Hatton tries to counter by clinching up but Mfer breaks away and moves out of range.

Hatton takes one on the button.

and Mfer counters with a good low kick that Hatton was not able to check.
Hatton chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Mfer can pounce on him.
Hatton has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Hatton there as he acknowledges the shot.
Mfer scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.

Mfer drops Hatton with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Hatton looks back up at him and smiles so Mfer waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Oh Hatton is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Hatton has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Mfer.
Mfer stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
A solid leg kick lands there for Mfer.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hatton darts in trying to clinch
and Mfer counters with a huge left! Hatton is in big trouble! He's backing up but Mfer isn't giving him chance to recover. Under a barage of punches the ref has to step in to save Hatton from any more damage. A dominating finish by Mfer!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:06 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ispa Mfer!
After winning the bout, Ispa Mfer thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
