PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Oliver Huang (ranked 3532 p4p, 371 weight class) and Antonio Padilla (ranked 3785 p4p, 387 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Oliver Huang!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Antonio Padilla!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Steve Erwin and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Huang looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Padilla connects with a solid leg kick.
Huang tries to score a power double leg takedown but Padilla sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Huang somewhat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Oliver Huang. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Padilla fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Padilla defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Huang.

Padilla stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Padilla wants it to stay on the feet.

Huang has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Padilla really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Huang. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Padilla throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Huang.
Padilla looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Huang chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Padilla can pounce on him.

Huang closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Huang has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Padilla has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
