Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gunner Smith (ranked 3808 p4p, 132 weight class) and John Garbutt (ranked 4863 p4p, 180 weight class). Smith comes to the cage accompanied by Gangsters Paradise. Garbutt has chosen The Best Possible Entrance Song as his entrance music. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gunner Smith! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Garbutt! The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Steven Brown and Chris Edwards.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Garbutt blocks a jab. Smith definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Garbutt throws a right hand that Smith ducks under and follows up with a left that Smith also avoids with ease. Smith tries to counter by clinching up but Garbutt breaks away and moves out of range. Smith scores with the left hand. Garbutt knows he should have avoided that one. Smith thows a left - swing and a miss! A nice side step and Garbutt releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home. Smith throws a lazy uppercut
and Garbutt counters with a two punch combo. The fighters circling - Garbutt throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Smith swings away with a body shot that misses
and Garbutt counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Smith thows a left - swing and a miss! Garbutt looks like he wants to counter punch here. Smith uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Garbutt.
Smith seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance. Garbutt misses with a body shot.
Smith lands a glancing blow to the side of Garbutt's head. Smith rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Garbutt counters with a right hand to the body. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Nice uppercut there from Garbutt. Garbutt looks to score with a jab to the body but Smith is just out of range. Garbutt misses with a wild combination.
That's one minute gone in the round. Smith throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Garbutt lands a nice looking body shot.
Garbutt jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Nice shot lands for Garbutt. Garbutt just misses with a punch to the body.
Smith misses the shot to the body. Smith scores with a jab to the body. Garbutt fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Smith on the side of the head. Garbutt connects with a right hand. Smith shakes it off. Smith throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Garbutt sees it coming and avoids it easily. Smith slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
It looks like John Garbutt has been cut. Garbutt misses with a shot to the body and Smith makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Smith blocks a jab. Smith was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Garbutt has tried to improve his agility in the runup to this fight. Smith cracks Garbutt with a good jab. Smith misses with a straight left. Garbutt ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Smith moves away. A big right from Smith misses. Smith misses with a right hand and Smith takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Garbutt checks a leg kick. Smith misses with a body shot
and Garbutt counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Smith misses with a body shot
and Garbutt counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Garbutt ducks under a wild hook from Smith. A combination from Smith does no damage. A little jabbing left from Garbutt on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Smith takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Smith is rocked! Smith throws a poor cross that misses
and Garbutt scores with a counter punch that sends Smith to the canvas! Garbutt smells blood - he's punishing Smith with more strikes and the ref has stopped it! Smith has no idea where he is - he's tackled the ref... oh dear, poor guy, the crowd is in hysterics!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). John Garbutt! John Garbutt decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
