Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ricky Rivera! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
16 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Andrey Eremeev! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Chris Downing and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Eremeev lands with a thumping leg kick.
Eremeev throws a hook but Rivera avoids it easily. Rivera lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Eremeev circles away quickly and effectively. Eremeev throws a series of punches but Rivera avoids them all with ease. Rivera shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Eremeev sprawls well. Eremeev wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Rivera gets slowly back to his feet. Eremeev clobbers Rivera with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Rivera shoots in but Eremeev avoids the takedown attempt easily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rivera fails to land the takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ricky Rivera. That's going to take a lot out of him. Rivera ducks under a wild hook from Eremeev. Rivera was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Eremeev ducks under a wild hook from Rivera. Rivera really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
That's one minute gone in the round. Eremeev moves into range and connects with a jab. Eremeev fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. An inside leg kick lands from Eremeev. Rivera slips under a jab from Eremeev. Eremeev misses with an uppercut. Rivera takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Eremeev ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Rivera defending well as Eremeev loads up on a big left hand. Eremeev throws a mid kick that lands with a slap. Eremeev lands with an uppercut that bounces Rivera off the cage and back into range. Eremeev throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Rivera sees it coming and avoids it easily. Andrey Eremeev is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Eremeev lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Rivera lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Rivera.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Eremeev pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Eremeev's jab looks to have found its range, popping Rivera under the eye. Good shot there by Eremeev. Rivera misses the shot to the body. Rivera slips a jab from Eremeev. A swing and a miss from Eremeev. Eremeev throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Eremeev misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
A jab from Eremeev misses. Eremeev swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Eremeev works Rivera's body with a nice hook. Eremeev scores with a jab to the head.

Eremeev fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Rivera manages to avoid it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Eremeev fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Eremeev throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Eremeev works Rivera's body with a nice hook. Eremeev connects with a crisp jab. Rivera takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. A big left from Eremeev misses. Eremeev drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. Rivera takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Eremeev throws the left hand but Rivera avoids the punch easily. Rivera appears to be looking for a big counter. Rivera lands a nice hook to Eremeev's body. Eremeev takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Eremeev throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Rivera is rocked! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Rivera takes a shot right to the bread basket. Rivera throws an overhand right that lands on Eremeev's shoulder, as Eremeev tries to avoid the shot. Andrey Eremeev seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Eremeev scores with a jab. Oh Rivera is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Eremeev. Rivera shrugs it off though. Rivera takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Eremeev is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Rivera had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté. A good leg kick by Eremeev. Rivera fails with the takedown and Eremeev counters with a crisp right that sends Rivera to the canvas! Eremeev follows up with punches from the mount and this one is all over!
