The bell rings for round one and we are underway! minamoto tries to close the distance and clinch up but Brockman swats him away and circles back towards the center. minamoto shoots in looking for a takedown. Brockman tries to sprawl out of it but minamoto keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Brockman manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Brockman fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Brockman swats away the attempt to clinch by minamoto. minamoto dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Brockman. That did some damage! minamoto shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Brockman as he avoids it easily. Brockman shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. minamoto is trying to control the position but Brockman postures up. Brockman is looking to advance position but minamoto has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

Brockman tries to hold on but minamoto pushes him away. minamoto misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. minamoto looking to control but Brockman is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. minamoto throws a strike there. Brockman manages to avoid it well and slips a leg under to get to half guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. minamoto throws a series of punches but Brockman moves out of range. Brockman doesn't manage to clinch there - minamoto circles away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. minamoto has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. The fight moves into the clinch position. Brockman is looking to control minamoto's arms but minamoto gets an underhook and turns him. Now Brockman has his back to the cage. Brockman has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics minamoto uses from the top position. Brockman keeping moving, preventing minamoto from controlling successfully. minamoto is really struggling to control Brockman but he's trying to hold on to the position. Brockman trying to control the position.

It's preventing any offense from minamoto, at least for the moment. minamoto wants to control from the top but Brockman keeps moving. minamoto has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Brockman stuffs the takedown. minamoto closes the distance but Brockman moves to the side and Brockman counters by clinching up. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Brockman stalling in the clinch.

Brockman darts in trying to clinch and minamoto counters with a head kick. minamoto with a lazy takedown attempt and Brockman counters with a nice double leg into side control. minamoto won't be happy with that. Brockman is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt minamoto will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. minamoto tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Brockman wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Brockman stands up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. minamoto swats away the attempt to clinch by Brockman. Brockman closes the distance and clinches. Brockman pulls minamoto into guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as minamoto accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Brockman controls minamoto momentarily but minamoto frees himself. Brockman is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! minamoto has his hands clasped together but Brockman extends an breaks minamoto's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Brockman.
