Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jason Steiner!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, William Peck and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Martine is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Steiner scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Steiner circles away from the clinch attempt.

Steiner is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Martine doesn't manage to clinch there - Steiner circles away.

Martine feints and as Steiner raises his hands in defense, Martine changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Steiner swats away the attempt to clinch by Martine.

Martine looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Steiner is fending him off so far but Martine persists. Nope, Steiner circles away and we're back to standing.

Martine tries to keep at a distance but Steiner has taken the fight into the clinch.
Martine is pushing Steiner up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Martine breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Martine has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Martine accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Steiner is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Martine is controlling him.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Martine tries to clinch but Steiner is having none of it.
Steiner swinging wilding here.
Steiner throws a body punch but Martine moves out of range.
Martine tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

and Steiner counters with a three punch combo that has Martine backing up. Martine nods at Steiner to acknowledge the strikes.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Martine wants to clinch.

and Steiner counters with a stiff right hand.
Martine fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

A close round but Jason Steiner will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Martine closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Martine lands in his opponent's guard.
Martine passes Steiner's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Steiner is refusing to be controlled, as Martine sits in half guard.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Martine looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Steiner really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Martine. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Steiner has his hands clasped together around Martine's back. He's all about the action.

Martine uses his free foot to push down on Steiner's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Steiner.
Martine misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Steiner is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Martine is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Steiner can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Martine stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
Steiner throws a right and a left that Martine avoids nicely.
A decent looking cross lands there for Steiner.
Steiner goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Martine swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Steiner counters with a nice uppercut.

Steiner lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Steiner.
Remy Martine is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Martine throws a head kick but Steiner moves out of range.

Martine tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Steiner's elbow.
Martine wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Steiner has him pressed against the cage.

Steiner throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Martine manages to get to full guard.

Martine looking for a guillotine here but Steiner defends easily.

Martine doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Martine trying to keep a closed guard but Steiner is proving a slippery customer.

Steiner not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Martine tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Steiner wants to get up but he can't break Martine's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Remy Martine will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round!


Martine takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

Martine escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Steiner gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Martine has momentary wrist control but Steiner slips an elbow through the middle.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Martine is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Steiner rolls with it to try and escape but Martine cranks on the arm and Steiner is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
