Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Guilherme Mendes (ranked 21531 p4p, 602 weight class) and Chris Barrie (ranked 8326 p4p, 576 weight class). Chris Barrie is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Guilherme Mendes! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Chris Barrie! The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Ben Zyskovitsi and Anni Minnemäki.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mendes instigates a clinch. A short right from Barrie. Mendes wants to take the fight to the mat but Barrie manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Barrie makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. Mendes drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Barrie gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Barrie turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Barrie manages to end up in side control. Mendes is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Barrie is putting a hurting on Mendes here, landing some big shots from side control. Barrie stands up and we're back to a striking position. Barrie swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Mendes darts in and clinches Barrie up against the cage. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Barrie tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Mendes is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Guilherme Mendes. That's going to take a lot out of him. Barrie has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Mendes clear over his head and slammed him to the mat! Mendes turns into Barrie and is now in his guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mendes looking to sit in guard and control but Barrie gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Barrie with a nice head shot there. Barrie with a nice head shot there. Mendes is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Mendes is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Barrie is not content to let Mendes control the position. Mendes thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Barrie is looking to escape. Mendes is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Barrie has managed to free his arm - good work. Mendes keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Barrie is looking to escape. Mendes is looking to advance position but Barrie won't allow it. Barrie pushes Mendes off looking to stand but Mendes dives back in and keeps control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mendes is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Barrie has managed to free his arm - good work. Mendes tries to pass to full mount but Barrie defends it. Mendes is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Mendes is looking for submissions but instead, Barrie has regained full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Mendes trying to control but Barrie is working from the bottom. Mendes throws a big right hand that misses.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Barrie misses with a hook. Barrie throws a hook but Mendes avoids it easily. Mendes throws a half hearted mid kick. A slapping body kick lands there for Mendes. Barrie shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Mendes throws a leg kick and Barrie counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Mendes wants to clinch. Barrie looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Guilherme Mendes will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

It looks like Guilherme Mendes has been cut. Mendes shoots for a double leg takedown but Barrie sprawls well. He's pushed Mendes's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Mendes is looking light on his feet compared to last time was saw him fight. Mendes has his takedown stuffed and Barrie counters with a lovely straight right hand! Mendes throws a wild body kick that Barrie sees coming a mile off. Mendes throws a head kick but Barrie moves out of range.

Mendes misses with a takedown attempt and Barrie counters with a straight right hand. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Guilherme Mendes. That's going to take a lot out of him. Barrie throws a body shot but no joy. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mendes lands a glancing blow to the side of Barrie's head. Barrie's coach down at was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Barrie's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Mendes misses with a takedown and Barrie counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Mendes ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Mendes shoots and misses and Barrie connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Guilherme Mendes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mendes tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Barrie manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Mendes doesn't succeed with the takedown and Barrie cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Mendes looks to throw a body kick and Barrie counters with a lovely straight right hand! Mendes fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Barrie to the ground. Mendes is now in Barrie's guard. Barrie is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Mendes presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat. Mendes looking for a takedown. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Barrie lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage. Barrie lands a nice uppercut. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Barrie scores with an uppercut up the middle. Mendes wants to take the fight to the mat but Barrie manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Mendes goes for a takedown attempt but Barrie pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Barrie lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Barrie closes the distance and pushes Mendes back into the cage. Barrie tries a body shot but Mendes blocks it.
Barrie tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Barrie has hold of one of Mendes's legs. Mendes is fighting the takedown attempt but Barrie gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Barrie has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Mendes being controlled here, momentarily. Barrie missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Barrie trying to control but Mendes is working from the bottom. Mendes utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Barrie decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Barrie is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Barrie throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Mendes sees it coming and avoids it easily. Mendes changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Barrie looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Barrie is pushing Mendes's head away, looking to escape. Mendes manages to hold on to the position though. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Mendes wants to lay and pray for a moment but Barrie keeps working. Mendes is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Barrie is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Barrie gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there! Mendes in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Barrie wants to get back to his feet but in bucking up he's left an arm hanging out! Mendes has locked onto it and has pulled off a slick armbar! Barrie taps furiously! This one is all over!
