Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Herbert Burns (ranked 1044 p4p, 111 weight class) and Zain Retherford (ranked 1373 p4p, 143 weight class). Burns kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Marcelo D2 Claudia - Desabafo Deixa Eu Dizer. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Herbert Burns!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Zain Retherford!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Aleksandr Martynov and Konstantin Menshow.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Retherford misses with a hook.
Burns throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Herbert Burns seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Burns will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Retherford is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Burns with a body shot.
Retherford misses with a body shot.
Burns has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Jitz MMA in the buildup to the fight.
Retherford lands with a straight right. Burns didn't see that one coming.
A slow jab from Burns misses its intended target.
Burns shoots in but no luck this time.
Retherford tries to clinch up.
Retherford throws a shot from downtown. Burns moves away and avoids it.
Burns closes the distance and clinches up with Retherford, looking for a takedown. Burns pushes Retherford against the cage but Retherford circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Herbert Burns. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Burns throws a sloppy head kick and Retherford moves out of range easily.
Retherford swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Retherford closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Burns quickly recovers to half guard.
Retherford looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Burns with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Burns is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Burns is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Retherford scores with a couple of nice shots.
Burns is rocked!
That's one minute gone in the round.
Retherford looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Oh Burns is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Retherford lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Burns quite badly. Burns pulls Retherford in close trying to recover. Retherford postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Burns on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Burns doesn't seem to be complaining too much.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Zain Retherford!
Zain Retherford was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
The defeated Herbert Burns had this to say: 'I will be back stronger and my next opponent better watch out! '.
