Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Werner Elliott! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Thor Burn! The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Ben Watson and Francis DeMontford.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Burn gets a takedown into half guard. Burn missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Burn is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Elliott still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Elliott has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work! Burn is looking to reverse the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Burn keeps trying to improve his position. Elliott lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Burn down.
Burn is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Elliott is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
That's one minute gone in the round. Elliott avoids the attempt from Burn to control. Elliott throwing shots from mount but they're not landing. Elliott lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Elliott misses with a head shot. Burn is hanging on here. He's in a desperate position. Elliott is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Burn has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Elliott has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Burn's face.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Burn is trying to reverse the position but instead Elliott has taken his back - oops! Elliott lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.
Elliott lands a punch to the side of the head from the back. Burn is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
Elliott is working for the choke. It looks like he might have got it... has he...? Yes! Burn is tapping out! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Werner Elliott!
