Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mauricio Day (ranked 5445 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daemon Spast (ranked 5053 p4p, 0 weight class). Daemon Spast is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mauricio Day! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Daemon Spast! The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Daniel Cesar and Mauricio Rocha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Spast throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Day tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Spast manages to circle out of the way. Day gets the takedown into side control. Day trying to control the position but Spast is working away. Sloppy strikes there by Day. Day decides to stand back up. Day steps back and let's Spast get back to his feet. Spast fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Spast throws a sloppy head kick and Day counters by moving into the clinch. Spast wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Spast is trying to force a seperation but Day has the dominant position. Spast is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Day fails to pull guard.
Day pulls Spast into guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Spast wants to stand but Day has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Spast wants to stand and escape but instead Day has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Day is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Day postures up in Spast's guard and throws a big left but Spast blocks it. Day landing some decent shots from guard. Day throws a big right hand that misses. Spast wants to stand up but Day is controlling him. Day has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Day throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Day gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Spast misses with a head kick.
Spast walks into a left hand. Spast misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Spast connects with a leg kick. Day looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. Day shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Spast napping and manages to drive through into side control! Spast tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Day cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Day really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Day raining down shots from the mount! Spast really wants to buck Day off and get back to his feet. Day with shots to the head and body - Spast looks very uncomfortable down there. Day forces the positional change into back control. Spast is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
Spast defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Day's arms. Day cracks Spast with a big shot to body and one to the head - really punishing Spast from the back mount here, looking to soften him up.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Day is working the ground and pound. Can Spast escape? Spast is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet. Spast throws a sloppy head kick and Day moves out of range easily. Day is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Spast. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Spast throws a body kick that misses. Day shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Day was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Spast wants to get back to his feet.

Day lands a decent elbow from side control. Day wants to lay and pray for a moment but Spast keeps working. Spast is trying to buck Day off. Day lands a few punches from side control. Spast is pushing Day's head away, looking to escape. Day manages to hold on to the position though. Day is chipping away with strikes.
Day decides to take the fight back to the feet. Daemon Spast seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A jab from Day finds it's way through Spast's defenses. Spast throws a sloppy head kick and Day moves out of range easily. We're now in half guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Day slips a nice elbow through Spast's hands, connecting with Spast's forehead.

Day throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Day stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Spast to get to his feet. Spast misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Day working for a submission but Spast is keeping him at bay. Day with the ground and pound from mount. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Spast is bucking up trying to escape but Day cracks him with another couple of good strikes. You get the feeling that Spast really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Spast looks to throw a body kick and Day counters with a nice double leg into guard. Day decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Spast, up you get! Ground and pound from Day. Day lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Nice strikes from Day there. Day prevents Spast from standing back up.
Spast really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Day. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Day is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Spast is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
