Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Curtis Tate Jr (ranked 6795 p4p, 615 weight class) and Tommy Tate (ranked 24345 p4p, 690 weight class). Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Curtis Tate Jr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tommy Tate !
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Stewart Dunkirk and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tate slips a jab and a cross from Tate Jr.
Tate Jr shoots and misses
and Tate counters with a left and a right that stings Tate Jr.

Tate Jr closes the distance and clinches.
Tate should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Tate drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Tate Jr definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Tate Jr fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Tate Jr with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Tate unleashes a big counter combination but Tate Jr bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.

Tate Jr will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Tate up against the cage.

Tate Jr gets control of Tate 's arms and successfully pulls guard. Tate Jr will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Tate Jr wants to control but Tate is keeping busy and won't allow it.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Tate Jr is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Tate is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Tate throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Tate Jr's waist but Tate Jr gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Tate off to one side.
Tate Jr misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Tate Jr looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Tate is fending him off so far but Tate Jr persists. Nope, Tate circles away and we're back to standing.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Tate shoots in but Tate Jr avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Tate Jr darts in looking for a takedown but Tate gets double underhooks and turns Tate Jr into the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tate shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Tate Jr as he jumps to the side.

Tate looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Tate Jr is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Tate leaves Tate Jr with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Tommy Tate showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Tate shoots in looking for a takedown. Tate Jr tries to sprawl out of it but Tate keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Tate Jr manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
No luck for Tate with that takedown attempt.
A little feinted left hand from Tate Jr on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Tommy Tate seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Tate Jr throws a head kick that Tate semi-blocks.


It looks like Tommy Tate has been cut.
Tate Jr fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Tate is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.

Tate pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Tate closes this distance looking for a takedown but Tate Jr circles away.

Tate Jr shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Tate sprawls well. Tate wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Tate Jr gets slowly back to his feet.

Tate Jr darts in looking for a takedown but Tate gets double underhooks and turns Tate Jr into the cage.
Tate lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Tate goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Tate Jr is looking to counter the offense by Tate and move into the clinch.
Tate Jr fails with an attempt to clinch.
As Tate Jr backs off Tate throws a huge counter combo but Tate Jr manages to avoid it all.
Tate shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Tate Jr defends it nicely.

Tate Jr is trying hard to land a takedown here. Tate sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Tate Jr dives in and grabs Tate 's left leg, looking for a takedown. Tate pushes down on Tate Jr's head and hops out.
Tate shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Curtis Tate Jr is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
No luck for Tate Jr with that takedown attempt.

Tate gets in close and instigates a clinch.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Come on Tate - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.

Tate Jr is looking for a sweep. Tate is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Tate Jr has his hands clasped together around Tate 's back. He's all about the action.
Tate seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Tate Jr does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

And that's the end of the fight!
Curtis Tate Jr showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Tate Jr has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
