Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Dierk Ueli! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ko Ala Bear! The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Arvi Lind and Roosa Järviläinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bear pushes Ueli up against the cage in a clinch. Bear is trying to pull guard but Ueli has him pressed against the cage. Bear dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage. Ueli has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Bear after a bit of a struggle. Ueli manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Ueli seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Bear pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Ueli is keeping the position for now. Ueli has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ueli avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Bear won't allow Ueli to get back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ueli pulls Bear in close to prevent any damage. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Bear looking to pass the guard.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Bear moves into range and clinches up with Ueli. Ueli manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Ueli seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Ueli is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Bear defends well. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ueli keeping moving, preventing Bear from controlling successfully.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ueli looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Ueli looking for a sweep. Not yet Ueli, not yet. Ueli pulls Bear in to control the position. Bear has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Ueli to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Bear is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Ueli pulls down on the head and he's put Bear to sleep! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Dierk Ueli! Our winner, Dierk Ueli, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
