Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
36 - 26 - 4, fighting out of Helsinki, Marek Koltun! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
36 - 25 - 3, fighting out of New York, Bornas Lopette! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Dillan Fox and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Koltun looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Lopette is fending him off so far but Koltun persists. Nope, Lopette circles away and we're back to standing. Koltun defending well as Lopette loads up on a big left hand. Lopette lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Lopette ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Koltun shoots in looking for a takedown but Lopette manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Koltun's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Koltun shoots in for a takedown but Lopette shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Marek Koltun. That's going to take a lot out of him. Koltun scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Koltun is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Lopette is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Koltun is looking to take a break and control but Lopette is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Lopette wants to control but Koltun postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lopette is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Koltun working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Lopette trying to remain calm as Koltun controls from the top position. Koltun is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Lopette knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Koltun tries to move into full mount but can't pass Lopette's legs.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Koltun has an Americana. Lopette didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Koltun is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Koltun hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:22 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Marek Koltun! Marek Koltun looked relieved post fight as he said the following; 'I'm the champ. Now time to go get a piece of ass.'. Bornas Lopette spoke after the fight, saying 'I'll Train Harder And Win My Next Fight Fans, Sorry For My Loss. '.
