Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Julio Fitzgerald! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ellis Horton! The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Sosuke Kotani and Ren Mimura.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Fitzgerald throws a series of punches but Horton moves out of range. Horton steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect. The fight moves into the clinch position. Fitzgerald takes an elbow to the temple. Horton gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Fitzgerald regains guard.
Fitzgerald is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched. Horton looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Horton gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Horton looking to sit in guard and control but Fitzgerald gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Fitzgerald sitting in guard, not really doing much.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fitzgerald will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Horton working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Horton preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Fitzgerald stands up and waves to Horton to follow him. The fight moves into the clinch position. Horton tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Fitzgerald avoids it. Fitzgerald ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Fitzgerald no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Fitzgerald is trying to keep Horton in close.

Fitzgerald has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Horton is stalling in the full guard. Horton really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Fitzgerald. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Fitzgerald controls Horton momentarily but Horton frees himself. Horton wanted to stand there but Fitzgerald had control of the position. Fitzgerald is trying to keep Horton in close.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Horton controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. The fight stays on the outside here - Horton looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Fitzgerald tries to counter with a takedown but Horton is quick to defend against it. Fitzgerald really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Horton tries to clinch up but Fitzgerald circles away and keeps his distance. Fitzgerald tries to counter with a takedown but Horton is quick to defend against it. Horton tries to close the distance and clinch up but Fitzgerald swats him away and circles back towards the center. It looked like Fitzgerald was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Horton looking to land some kicks to the body here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Julio Fitzgerald will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Fitzgerald rushes Horton and presses him up against the cage. Horton is defending well against a takedown attempt. Fitzgerald tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Fitzgerald changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Horton fights it off and pushes away nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Julio Fitzgerald. That's going to take a lot out of him. Horton changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Fitzgerald looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Horton trying to control the action but Fitzgerald is working from the bottom. Fitzgerald gets back to half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Horton stalling. Fitzgerald trying to control but Horton postures up.
Horton stalling away here and it's allowed Fitzgerald to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard. Horton engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Horton must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Horton throwing strikes from guard but Fitzgerald blocks nicely. Fitzgerald pulls Horton in close to his closed guard and prevents Horton from doing any damage or advancing position. Horton throws a strike but Fitzgerald rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Fitzgerald stands up from Horton's guard - Fitzgerald perhaps looking for a knockout. No luck with that takedown attempt from Fitzgerald.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Horton gets a double leg takedown into Fitzgerald's guard. Fitzgerald is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Horton presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat. Fitzgerald is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Horton is defending well. Fitzgerald wants to get back to striking at distance but Horton won't allow it.
Horton is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage. Horton lands an elbow just above Fitzgerald 's eye. Horton tries to stall but Fitzgerald uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Horton is breathing heavily. Fitzgerald content to stall in guard here. Fitzgerald decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Horton, up you get!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Horrible takedown attempt by Fitzgerald or perhaps it was just good defense by Horton, which made it look bad. Horton throws a body kick that digs right into the meat. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Horton doesn't manage to clinch there - Fitzgerald circles away.
Horton tries to close the distance and clinch up but Fitzgerald swats him away and circles back towards the center. Fitzgerald drops down looking for a counter takedown but Horton sprawls and moves away. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Ellis Horton will probably get the nod - 10:9. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Horton is pulling down on Fitzgerald's head. It's preventing any offense from Fitzgerald, at least for the moment. Fitzgerald slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Fitzgerald throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Horton works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Fitzgerald stands up from Horton's guard - Fitzgerald perhaps looking for a knockout.

Horton takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Horton fails in his attempt to clinch. Fitzgerald feinted with a counter takedown. Horton shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Fitzgerald napping and manages to drive through into side control! Fitzgerald explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there! Fitzgerald tries for a takedown but Horton sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Horton counters with a body kick. Horton slips a straight right by Fitzgerald. Horton wants to counter with a clinch but Fitzgerald pushes him away. Fitzgerald gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Horton counters by clinching up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Horton tries to work over Fitzgerald's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Horton has picked Fitzgerald up - he's going for a ride! Horton dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Fitzgerald trying to control from the bottom.

Fitzgerald controlling the position for now. Horton throwing shots but Fitzgerald is blocking nicely. Horton takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Fitzgerald wants to control but Horton is keeping busy and won't allow it. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Horton misses with a head shot. Fitzgerald uses the momentum to regain guard. Julio Fitzgerald overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Horton is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Fitzgerald is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Fitzgerald gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Horton to score an easy takedown into full guard. Fitzgerald wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Horton looking to pass the guard. Fitzgerald is trying to control the position from the bottom.
